trimmanton,

I normally ride in a group with my two sons on FJRs so I am familiar with group riding.

Four of us started at 0500 from Jacksonville to Tallahassee.

We got to Naples by 1300. When we realised we were ahead of the game we pressed home our advantage by taking only a subway and heading to the I - 95.

Fatigue was not an issue for us. The FJR has to stop after at least 200 miles anyway.

Group riding keeps one alert and can reduce boost morale and dimish fatigue.

It aws everybit enjoyable as we expected. See what "roadglide", and "mrrjax" has to say.

The other riders though not engaging in racing each other, provide enough encouragement to make the trip a joy instead of a chore.

You are invited to join us on the BBG 1500 in DEC. See the post. :D

Glen.

Glen, thanks for setting up the SS1000 and preparing the paperwork. I really enjoyed the ride with you guys. The route was very easy and traffic wasn't an issue (though that south Florida traffic is scary at times). The official (by GPS) numbers were 80.1 mph average while riding, 70.6 mph overall including stops, 1054 miles in 15 hrs 2 mins, max speed ??? I did stop for a final gas receipt at a station 2 miles from my home as I live out by I-10 and needed the extra 20 miles for a safety margin. The only problems: Temp at 32 degrees passing Live Oak at 6 am; my winter gloves are too large to adjust the controls on my XM radio and my helmet is too noisy for that long of a distance. Thats it....no butt problems (Sargent seat). Would I do it again? Oh yeah! What are you guys doing next month? Items that I consider a must for a SS1000: XM Radio, GPS, radar detector, highway pegs, after market windshield, cruise control/throttle lock, after market seat, aux lights (I-10 can be very dark) and if cold...heated gloves or grips. Only I don't know if heated anything will work without over loading my alternator with all the above on and working. I've had 18 bikes before this one and it continues to amaze me with its all around capability. Love this FJR... 9850 miles on the clock in 4.5 months. :yahoo:

I’ll keep it simple, route was good, ride was great, people were even better and I’m glad it’s over. Ended up getting home around 2am after stopping at a friends house to watch the UFC fights still all within the 24 hours allotted. Take care all and thanks again for a great SS1000.
