I just got back from a fly N ride on a Gen2. Was 1100 miles Denver to SOCAL. First part of trip was 30-40 degrees, last part was 90-95. Good stuff. I also wired an SAE pigtail to battery to accommodate heated gear. Good suggestions have been posted. I probably would have taken tools with me (I always ride with tools) and should have demanded more pictures in hindsight. Had a 4mm Allen wrench in my pocket. Needed a screw driver to adjust idle screw. Tires were badly cupped and sucked in Mountainsbut no biggie. This time of year you should be able to get a great dealIm sure I did 😋

 
When is your trip?? The seat height adjustment is a big thing. It's very easy to change, but not very intuitive the first time. I rode mine home 5 hours with the OEM seat in the low position, and hated it. Now it's in the high position and I just dislike it.

Also what he said about the idle adjuster... it's pretty well hidden, and the best way to adjust it is with a long crosspoint screwdriver. I could barely touch two fingers to it, but couldn't twist it enough to move it. make sure the bike is warmed up, mine runs at a high idle when it's cold.

I am home.. great trip.. had to replace the front tire before I got going.. the rear was ok but is showing cords now I am home. Great bike.. most stable I have ever ridden. Will be working on the ride report posted above.

 
Handling will improve greatly with a new rear tire, it will drop into corners much better. Glad the trip worked out.

I always insist on paying cash and bring some smaller bills for the final 20% of agreed-upon purchase price so that last minute "things" (scuffs, missing accessories, etc.) can be negotiated with out me needing "change".
I've given this advice often to friends. It is good advice and one of the only ways to resolve those "it's not exactly what you said" issues.

Note that Flickr stuffs a lot of unnecessary **** into their URL. You'll have to find the buried "https:/this_is_the_right_URL.jpg" and delete a lot preceding and following. Can't vouch for other photo-hosters.
