I ran up to check on the FODS folks on Saturday. I see no ride reports, so I'll just throw some
photos in here.
Left Sacramento damn early, and was there in no time.
Washington, CA at dawn. Downtown.
Parked between a hopped-up FJR, and a dirty Suzuki.
Looked around town...
Before going into the "lobby"...
Nobody at the desk, so I walked up the stairs and out onto the balcony to have a look there.
The courtyard.
The alley out back.
I found RenoJohn's room and woke him up. I'll spare y'all the details.
He stumbled out and said, "Let me show you the place."
A little later, we encountered exskibum and Lady Ex considering breakfast on the balcony.
Then we went inside to greet some of the locals.
Next, it was down to visit the FODS who were camping down the street.
FJRob, the organizer.
SacramentoMike and his son, SacramentoJake.
Sorry, but I've got big gaps in my picture story here. I was, after all, just a visitor and not an
actual dual-sporting sort.
The exskibums, SacMikes, Renowankers and I then took off on a loop to meet the off-road contingent in
Downieville, who'd taken the "dirty route" through the woods and over the mountain.
We ran up to the Donner Lake area, then out 89 to 49. SacMike and Jake, and RenoPudster
peeled off along the way, and the ex's and I eventually rolled into Downieville.
This group had sort of taken it over.
But we found our guys.
Uberkuhl and Bluestreek, lounging after a deep-fried lunch.
And FJRob, helping Stevie with some KLR maintenance.
Erin's Dad, explaining something to those gathered,.......I think.
I took off ahead to try get some photos of the others coming by me.
Bluestreek had been having some respiration problems with his KLR I think, but I was surprised when
he came by on the asphalt.
Then, I tried to capture exskibum and exskibeauty as they zoomed past.
Rich's line would have been better, but I'm certain he was distracted by the beautiful, blue '06
parked there in the shade.
I continued on down 49, and then turned for home. (I'd had a very early start on little sleep and I was
bushed. I ain't as young as this crowd.)
I'm hoping the folks who circled the campfire on Saturday night will share the goings-on.
Great seeing everyone.
I'd especially like to thank RenoJohn, high priest of the Pole-Gazers. Brother John, you are NOT a ****.
Peace.
