Nope, you're an ex-colonial.I learned that from a Scotsman ya Limey ******* POME.Nope, not English English, that would be an "adjustable spanner"...."Shifting spanner???" What the hell?
English, dude!!!!
I guess you mean a crescent wrench?
...
Ya don't get me I'm part of the Union....
Of course, it's always tea-time....Is it tea time yet?
You have me there....And, since when did the Scottish speak English?
So you'd better get a 1-foot imperial adjustable (shifting) spanner in case you find a large imperial nut you haven't got a standard socket for....I do have a 300mm shifting (adjustable) metric spanner in my toolbox.
Haha...LYB!!Gee thanks for the BOD. I have plenty of metric tools, just not all the large sockets. The only large ones I have are specific. Like the axle bolts. When I find I need another one I just buy it.How do you have two metric bikes but not have metric tools? Leave it to a Marine. Go ask your wife to borrow her tools. She probably has one that fits. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you just don't have that particular size...
Why do I get the feeling that you have converted all the metric fasteners on your FJR over to British Standard Whitworth? So you'd better get a 1-foot imperial adjustable (shifting) spanner in case you find a large imperial nut you haven't got a standard socket for.
That's how.Proper six point socket, a decent air impact gun and Bob's your uncle.Leave the forks on the bike but just move the forks up a little bit in the triple clamp so that the cap is not clamped by the triple clamp.
You probably won't need the impact gun if you have a decent breaking bar but if the impact gun doesn't work it's FUBAR.
Thread-jacking? I hadn't noticed.I thought that was said way earlier, before all the thread-jacking. Gee, I never thread-jack until the question's been answered.......
Thanks for the GENUINE offer of assistance Scott, unlike the rest of these fucktards. I am sure I will be able to get it with the socket and impact. Just don't understand why anyone would put it on that tight.Bob,
Let me know if you need a hand. I'm not too far away. I could ride up Saturday or Sunday if needed.
Coming from the guy that says he is scared to do his own forks that really isn't much of an insult.https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//public/style_emoticons/default/****.gifWhat Fitter and Trophy said. You'll probably want Spanky to help you, since you need someone stronger than an 11yo girl.
Locktite Red to keep it from accidentally coming apart?...Just don't understand why anyone would put it on that tight.
Where did you get the idea that I didn't have a compressor? I have two.Thread-jacking? I hadn't noticed.I thought that was said way earlier, before all the thread-jacking. Gee, I never thread-jack until the question's been answered.......
Even BikerGeek has a compressor so where that leave Bob on the tool chart?
We'll be at Andy's new place on Friday for Tech Day IX and will get to see all of Andy's new shiny tools that he keeps on the bookcase.
Red? I hope not, but I have seen stranger things. You would think that anyone that would se doing service on forks would know not to over tighten the cap.Locktite Red to keep it from accidentally coming apart?...Just don't understand why anyone would put it on that tight.
