I know we're bound to experience fork leaking from fork seals if we ride long enough but this is srsly new to me.

The leak is coming from the adjusting knob shaft.... I checked thru the parts list and only managed to find an oil seal for the end cap and inner tube. Item #19 PN 93210-40N50-00

Will it help if I change this o-ring? My judgment is telling me no.

Now that's a new one....
Were the forks recently serviced? I get the impression that they are over-filled.
Yes, we'll all be waiting for the answer to Hal's question. Their should be an air pocket above the fluid level.

If not the increased pressure, that seal failure is the only thing that will allow fluid past that adjuster shaft.

I'm with the rest of the crew here..

Having flushed mine forks twice to date I don't see this happening, unless they are over filled or severely bottomed out frequently..

:jester:

The fiche doesn't show it -- but, there must be a small internal 'o' ring in the cap assy.? Forks are not, normally, vented to the atmosphere -- there's actually pressure inside (especially when you hit a bump).

Maybe a new cap assy. is needed?

[anecdote]'Back in the day' (and, I'm talkin' 50 years ago), some front forks were vented at the cap (worked well -- no 'pesky' pressure rise to deal with -- 'cept, the rider would often get fork-oil on his trousers). Of course, there was often oil coming from other places, too -- and, riders didn't wear hi-viz 'Stiches...[/anecdote]

Yes, the leak occurred right after a recent service. I tot the Mech overcharged me for the first service and so I didn't went back to him. Been living with this problem for 4400Km till now.

When the leak first occurred, the oil will seep out even after I wiped it bone dry and left the bike parked overnight. But I guess the level dropped so much that it'll only seep if I ride the bike and the fork is working.

Now, the level is, i'm guessing, so low that it'll only seep if I ride the bike hard enough with heavy braking n such...

Apart from the occasional cleaning up that i have to do, its not giving me significant problems in handling, if I can recognize one if it exits that is...

Its the third fork servicing that i've had from the mechanic. Over servicing seems remote.

In the states it wouldn't be hard to locate a bike that had bent forks and be able to get the fork caps from them. Should be able to get them cheap that way.

+1 on the above posts.

The fork tubes would pressurize under compression (not a lot, but some). Should the oil level be real high, its going to get blown out of somewhere.... I'd remove the caps and check the oil level BEFORE you damage the main seals.

If its over filled, you should be able to suck the overfilled amount out. The mechanic may have drained what he thought was all the oil (perhaps some still inside) and refilled the proper amount, now its over filled....
