Jerold told me the same thing about synthetic. But let's be clear on this - he told me up front that it is his opinon based upon years of observation. He never represented them as "facts".
Maybe somewhere between 10/02 and now, someone was rude enough to tell him to pound sand about that issue and he modified his delivery?

 
Would not call the ST1300 metal scrap either.
I bought my new (to me) 2003 FJR last March and it is everything I had hoped it would be, maybe a bit more :D

This brought me over to the sport tourer side of things after years of cruisers; I find I don't look at the cruisers when I'm at the shops, shows or demo rides now.

The FJR is my favorite since it is a perfect match to what I wanted.

However, if for some, sad reason I could not get an FJR, my very close 2nd choice for me would be an ST1300. I have demo rode them and examined them at great length while window shopping, I would have no trouble making one work for me.

The FJR is still "my bike" though.
