I've had my '08 FJR for almost 3 months now and it simply kicks *** - I couldn't be happier with my choice! Now, it's time to make a few mods.

I’m already planning to pick up a pair of FZ1 mirrors to try them out. At some point, I’ll be adding a top-case, but not in a huge hurry.

First, I want to get some frame sliders, but there seem to be so many and wide price ranges. Aluminum? Delrin? Other? Which ones and why and where’s the best deal you’ve found?

Secondly, I’d like to get some bar risers/extenders. I’m 6’2” and fairly comfortable on the FJR even on my longest rides, but I’m pretty sure I’d be more comfortable with the bars a little higher and possibly closer to me for a bit more upright position. Which ones and why and where’s the best deal you’ve found?

Recommendations with rationale hereby solicited for both. Thanks in advance!

BTW - Sorry to post again but the forum is hosed (see error below...)

BTW, when I posted this message, here's what I got (and what I get about 50% of the time I try to post or click on an existing thread). Only on this forum - WTF?

I've finally taken off my risers...found it to be comfortable without them and feel a bit more connected with the bike without them in the tighter twisties. (5'-10 with longerish torso)

So my risers are laying around right now.

Just another point of view...just get the bike how you like it.

Regarding sliders, that stuff should be in FAQ Bin O Facts. I wouldn't recommend Aluminum. You want the Delrin so as to not transfer those lateral sliding forces through the bolt into your connection to the engine block.

Don't forget these....

Also - I like cruise, I use the Throttlemeister but not everyone likes that product - so there are others avail, just gotta search.

Grip Puppies are nice to make that pencil **** grips a bit more comfy and larger....

Oh and these things are nice to keep *********s in check - or at least somewhat more aware of you !!

I own OES sliders and Heli risers. Just bought the Canyon cages.

Sliders: Spend the dough and get the Canyon cages. From personal experience, the OES sliders will protect some but not all the plastic from scratching/cracking in case of a tip over (more likely than a crash if you read the forum). It won't protect the mirrors, and will likely scratch the top of the plastic just below the bar ends. It won't protect the bags either.

A complete set of Canyon cages will likely protect the plastic and bags. Plus it should help protect the lowers of the engine from being punctured open during a crash (making it more likely you'll be able to ride out, important if you travel the back roads or are out on a long distance trip). If I had these during my tip over, would have saved the mirrors and plastic and the bags. Cheaper to replace any dented bag protectors than to replace the bags.

As to risers, it's a matter of fitment to your body and ride preference. The MCL risers push the bars back a bit farther and higher than the Heli. I like the Heli, would probably have gotten the MCL now that I've tried both,
