I'm comming from Fallbrook. Where do you want to meet?
I'll be heading up the 5, so anywhere you want to cut over to the 5 from Fallbrook is up to you. Pick your cutover spot and a time and I'll tell you if it's feasible. Are you planning on going up early that morning or going up the night before?
Count me in as well. I am thinking about doing the same thing and riding up the night before to insure that I am well rested for the next days event. I get off from work that Friday at 3:30pm, get home and throw some things together and be ready to ride out at 5 or 6 depending on where we all want to meet.

If we go for the next morning, a good meeting place would be at the Denny's off of Oceanside Harbor Boulevard. This is on the same exit as Camp Pendelton off of the 5. My calculations show that we would have to meet there and leave by 8:00am at the latest to arrive by 10:00. There is a gas station right there so we could top off before the run up. It is approximately 122 miles from there to Castaic. I will see if Steve is game for this ride. It'd be nice if some other San Diego County riders joined up with us.

Ray, I am still working on the ride plan for the border run, just think it is going to be later in the fall when cooler weather checks in. Maybe just before or just after you do the Spank Rally. I will run a couple of dates by you and see what you think on a seperate PM.

Dave

(snip) This run will probably be the last for my Diablo Strada tires....
Hey Rayban, how are those tires anywhoo? I'm picking up a new front from a friend this weekend to replace my more than worn out front Metzeler Z6. I like the Metz's, but I have this opporunity to run a Strada, for below cost of a new tire. I'm a frugal feejerman.

See you later this month.

3k miles and barely any wear. I run at 39.5 and 40 front/rear

However, before attempting something like a BBG in the Spank Rally in October, I am heeding the wisdom presented on this forum to replace my tires prior to such a run. So, I figure I'll have around 4k on them by the time I'm ready for Spank. Unless they continue to hold up SUPER well, I'll probably not tempt fate and potentially torpedo my rally (at least not due to tires, ha ha).

San Diego County Folks:

I have a room reserved at the Courtyard by Marriott for the night before. I'll probably hit the road from my place in Mission Valley around 6pm. We can arrange to meet along the way, swap phone numbers etc.

I have a sneaking suspicion that finding a place that offers liquid entertainment that evening nearby won't be TOO hard to find...

PM me for contact info.

Dumke is just a **** :dribble:

And Penny told me he wasn't that good so she has to get lots to make up for it.

Additional information to follow. Maybe some locals have a lunch spot and some good senic turnouts for some pictures.

Mark your calendars and see you there.
I'm in (assuming the "boss" doesn't task me around the house) :(

Fook, I'm out. :( Made an appointment today with a potential new client. Big job, can't pass it up. Maybe I can find you on the road as I'm done at 3ish?

Your just jealous because my corner entrance speed is higher. :****:

Besides now that I have my own radar detector, I won't have to sit back and let you take all the heat.

Milestone: my first use of the TWN's favorite emoticon, and you were the lucky recipient, don't you just feel warm and fuzzy all over. :D

I thought in ***, quantity was more important than quality. Kind of like pizza, even when it isn't the best pizza, it's still good!

You guys are killing me. Just had a salad to "make up" for the chilli that I had on everything at Pink's and you go and mention Stacky's Seaside. We need to find some healthier places to eat. We need some little guys like John Dumke selecting our lunch choices. LOL
Hey, it takes a lot of work to be a skinny dude. Just 4 simple rules.

1) work out, alot, everyday. 2) don't drink or smoke. 3) if it's bad for you, don't eat it. 4) make love to your wife, alot.

If I die from a coronary or cancer at a young age, I am going to be really pissed. :biggrinsmiley:

That will be a great ride, very little traffic, lots of speed!
Uh, I don't understand rules 1-3. As to 4, you are a sick ******* and a disgrace to husbands all over the world. Maybe you have not been married long enough? Why the hell would you want to do that?

See, if I die early, then I deserve it. However, if I live longer then I win. LOL. In all honesty, lost 3lbs this week and I am getting on the Nordic Track despite having a nasty head cold!
Barry,

In addition to running 3-4 times a week, playing tennis 2 times a week, I have incorporated yoga twice weekly. I know it Sounds boring, but you might want to give it a try.

I don't know why, but it really seems to get the blood flowing to all parts of the body.

Barry, John, Richard and the Rest of the SoCal Crew: Man oh man, I wish I could get over to LA to ride with you guys on this trip. When I read "Dumke is just a ****!" I spilled my morning coffee over the damn keyboard I was laughing so hard. If I wasn't leading a crew of six to Mexico's Copper Canyon just a few day's after the "33 Run" I'd join you guys.

If you wild ones ever post a trip based around Julian I could easily blaze over from Phoenix to ride with you. Just post me at [email protected] or call me at 602-722-0427. I see that JD and Fairlaner are still talking about who's fastest!

I've been obsessed with this Spank 1K thing and I know I need a new GPS

to get me and the wife somewhere ?? What time's lunch that day and do

you know what's on the menu ? I've been kind of concerned myself with

my corner entrance speed (wife gets pissy) and the tire pressures.......

been keepin' them at about 40 Psi. When my social security check comes

I plan to buy a new radar detector. Those *******s always got a bead on me.

they won't ever run down here to Julian because the morning meet-up scenario would be flip-flopped...I'd have the 10 minute drive and they'd have the 1.5 hour haul down

Julian is practically my back yard (Mission Valley), so gimme a shout any weekend you wanna head over. Slowly but surely more San Diego FJR's are coming out of the woodwork here...

Now, I admit to having weight loss surgery to take a cheat short cut in the immediate future, but as for all that hard work, I have just one historical lesson to pull up: Jim Fixx.

Nuf said.

Next thing you know, Dumke will be sweating to the oldies in an aerobics class. If it was like this one, I might join in... (not recommended viewing at work or around the significant other, unless she likes that kind of thing)...

That's a great route and I hope to be able to be there to ride it with everyone.

TWN, the ride is coming right at ya' so catching up should be doable, if only for dinner. Maybe we should all ride to Armand's for kebabs afterward. I hear he's got a new apprentice chef.

As of this posting, I'm set for the early morning run. Although, you might consider meeting at 7:30 AM - all thing considered. It will give us some buffer time.

Meeting at the COCO's just north of the 5 and 76 is a pretty easy place to meet.

Caution:

10am is their "stands-up" departure time. Plan on arriving before that time.

Also, note that the route there takes you smack dab through some of the uglier parts of LA. It will take a lot more than 2 hours to get there, I suspect. Google maps suggests as long as 4 hours due to traffic from my door, which is only 15 minutes south of you. That's the only reason I looked at the hotel route. Last time we did the big loop up into Los Padres, I was drained by the end of the day even WITH having stayed at a hotel the night before, but I'm fat and out of shape too.

Sure, all are welcome. I recall a ST went on our Ojai run in July, but he seemed to have trouble keeping up with the hooligans
