Greetings from another 07 owner just around the corner. I rode down to Portland and had GP do a "ride-in" upgrade a few years ago. Got their upgraded spring and valving in the front and the Ohlins shock with remote preload.

I haven't hit peg feelers since then and it really tranformed the handling of the bike. Having the remote preload is very handy so I can easily crank it up when the wife is along on a ride.

I can tell I'm overdue for a refresh of the suspension (I've replaced fork oil once in probably 40k miles), but it's still better than the stock one was.

GP Suspension has a group buy in the Fall/Winter for the FJR group, check out the group buy section for price.

Had a Penske puke at 33k mi. - a neighbor had a Wing/Penske take a **** at 23k mi. ... All the Penske vendors recommend a service at 15k mi.. Now WTF is up with that.
I had a Penske on my VFR and an Ohlin's on my FJR. I recall the recommended interval was 10k, but I run them about 20k between rebuilds. Fortunately the rebuilds are about $150-$200, much less than a new shock, even the stock Yammy one.

^^^^ How much did all that run yah?

Grazi.
I can't remember exactly and can't look it up because my wife has my laptop at home. And this was a few years ago, so I'm sure prices have gone up. But I know I did take advantage of the winter group buy special pricing! :yahoo: Although riding down there in the winter when the temps never got above 25 that day wasn't ideal. ;) :cold:

What they said, plus, I went with Gold valves and .95 springs in the fork and found a great improvement for not a lot of $$. The AK20's are it if you have the coin. Any quality aftermarket shock will be a huge upgrade. Also, many threads on this topic already so do a search and you'll have lots of feedback to ponder.
I was just in the process of doing the same thing. Traxion sent me the cost. I was shocked at how much they marked up the Penske over avg price. With me the mark up was 500.00. Average cost of the front suspension up grade at 1000 was about the same mark up above the competition at 300 - 500. However since it's a their shock hard to compare. So I guess doing your home work is important.

Disregard this post ......I would say for the money I will be going with the Traxion Ak 20's in the front and the Penske 8983 in the rears. The fork upgrade might be a tad higher, but once again since it is there won design not much can be said if the quality is there. I know on all the HD baggers we did the customers loved it.

Have a little chat with Rick at Cogent Dynamics (RaceTech or Ohlins) and he'll have recommendations for you..... and decent prices. Go to EOM this year and have it done is another option. Rick is a former Ohlins engineer.
