Does anyone know how many inches (or mm) of travel there are in the front forks before they bottom out?

I have my bike almost back together after adding a bunch of stuff including Spiegler SS brake lines. I want to be sure that the angle at which the front caliper lines are bolted to the two-way fitting on the steering head won't allow them to hit the top of my MCL fork brace with the front shock fully compressed.

Yes, this should have occurred to me before. Actually it did but now, with everything back together, I'd just like to be positive before I ride it.

It sure would suck to break off both brake lines in a hard stop. In addition to the high probabability of death, it would get brake fluid all over the paint on the front fender. :D

Thanks,

Jim

FJR1300 maximum fork travel is 135mm.

Thanks WC.

Well, looking at the bike I don't see how this is not going to be a problem the way I have it set up. I basically put everything on and snugged up the bolts the way things fit with the least bending of the lines.

I think that there will definitely be a conflict with the MCL brace before you reach 135mm. Does anyone have a picture of the two way fitting that shows how their caliper cables are connected/routed?

I think that the best thing to do will be to turn the banjos on the two-way fitting rearward as much as possible and perhaps get a 3rd gen superbrace for peace of mind.

Thanks,

Jim

If you have ABS braces (made for ABS) were modified to clear the brake lines

Fittings have been cracked and wrecks narrowly averted before braces modified. :dribble:

a somewhat related question regarding the Superbrace (pn 1129), what is the best method for removing the stock plastic fork guards during installation of the brace?

thanks, rp
