I was looking at my bike and noticed that the spacer, or what they call the collar that's on the left side if you are looking at the front wheel, has a gap in it. The bearing is on it, but the shoulder on the collar isn't up against the oil seal. Should it be? Seems like it should be. Right now, when looking at it, you can see the edge of the oil seal, then there's about a 1/4" of the smaller diameter of the collar visible, then the shoulder. I would think the shoulder should be up against the oil seal face. It was late when I saw it last night and I didn't have a chance to look into it, but my gut tells me that that would allow the wheel to move left and right the distance that the shoulder is away from the oil seal now.
I tried to use the right names based on the parts diagram, so if I said something that makes no sense, let me know and I'll try to clarify.
The breakdown being, the axle, the collar, the oil seal, then the bearing, on that left hand side, facing the bike.
