Ha !..... Thanks guys

Only got room for the two bikes in the garage, Nighthawk will never see enough attention. I'll be able to ride it anytime I want with the new owner per our agreement.

Regardless... Loving the machine, what a monster and only to get better over time and upgrades.

Ordered new suspension GP full kit front and Penske double clicker rear, GPR Steering Stabilizer, windscreen, T-Rex sliders and guards, & Yoshi fender eliminator today. Laam seat comes in 2 weeks. I'm Sure there'll be more to come but that's a good start.

Need to get some seat time and get comfortable with the machine for track days next year...

Updates to upgrades to follow !

Oh yeah, she's comin along..... got a couple hundred miles on her, adjusted the stock suspenders, slapped on a few parts...

Yoshi Fender Eliminator

Fabbri Windscreen

ThrottleMeister - local to me, drove over there. Guy installed them on the spot.

Grip Puppies - much better then those pencil sticks for me

T-Rex protection coming today....

Awesome machine - highly recommend it.... Throttle control like the FJR - 3 Modes -- A, Standard & B mode...

A=Agressive

Standard - mix between A/B

B=Boring ?!? More like gentle, think touring mode

Oh My *** is soar on that freakin PLANK.... ugh...

I could use some help and guidance on learning material for aftermarket suspension, setup.... I have some time to read up and gain some knowledge before my Penske and GP stuff shows up.... Any reading material you guys suggest for a good education here. ?!?!?

Thanks Patrick

I can't help you re: suspension. But I can say that you can expect your pipes to "brown" shortly. I've got a buddy with a '14 FZ-09. I think this is a single wall header. I gave him some "blu-job" (I'm not making that up - that is what the product is called), he tried it and it helped, but the brown came back.

My buddy is one of those young wipper snappers and he kind of likes the brown. Guess I'm getting old....

Thanks for that info......

I don't know if that blueing / browning of the pipes really bothers me. Its a machine - guess thats what happens when you use it and don't treat it like a safe queen much like my guns - all of them get beat up and get battle damage. I'll likely end up getting aftermarket pipes down the road. Factory muffler is pretty heavy and that beautiful triple needs to growl a bit more for my taste....

Well FWIW I've been searching all over and found a bunch of sites, and have been reading up on suspension.

Here's a couple links I've found in case anyone here is interested. I'm sure there are more out there I haven't found.

Tryin to gets me some edjumacations !!

I have the Andreani fork cartridges on my FJ-09 (same parts) and it is loads better than stock. Then I added a Penske double clicker out back. Totally transformed the bike. Check out my install on the FJ-09 forum if you are interested (Suspension Section). Bought from Omniaracing direct from Italy. Great exchange rate right now.

The FJ-09 has been tempting me also. Mainly as a commuter/ short ride bike. I will keep the FJR for long hauls or rides with the wife. The FJ-09 would make a great stablemate for the big girl. Yamaha does have a way with engines.......

Well you won't regret that engine..... Its stupid fun, and for commuting - Trac control and ABS will be nice for sure....

Great bikes at a great price to custom taylor what you want out of them for you....

Its taken me some time but I'm getting there....

Got a seat from LAAM, which is far better - might need to have him tweak it a bit more but not much.

Penske Double Clicker is installed and made a huge difference, still need to get the GP Suspension Kit installed, hopefully next week, now that its cold weather here - I'll be tearing into it a bit more.

Akropovich Titanium exhaust came in this week, installed in 30 mins with ease... Sounds / looks great - weight loss of 10lbs.

Part 2 of the exhaust, is pulling out and sending the ECU to get reprogrammed tomorrow, while I'm in there, ripping out the PAIR system with some Graves Block off plates. Quick shifter kit will be added as a part of the ECU Flash as well....

The more I get familiar with it - its clear that Yamaha didn't go the whole nine yards with throttle control out of the box. The flash from Vcyclenut will address the abrupt throttle, smoothing out roll on snappiness and easing off roll off engine braking... Hitting the apex and rolling hard on the throttle in (A) mode, will scare you - way too abrupt..... with the FJR the traction control will assist you.... with the FZ you really need to pay attention or that rear wheel will run right out from under you with the power/torque of this nasty little 3 popper..... smoothing the throttle response on the FZ is a must and a pretty inexpensive upgrade, and I'd highly suggest it as well for the FJ.

Here is a link to some of the things that are addressed with Flash for those interested. Def a must IMO for the FZ/FJ.

https://www.vcyclenut.com/questions.html

All in all, tons of options out there for these platforms. They are very very well accepted by the industry for add on support....

The FZ or FJ are awesome stable mates for the FJR !!!!
