jestal - agree with your prep comment. When we moved back into our house I painted the garage floor with, well, garage floor paint; wasn't epoxy. You know, the kind that isn't supposed to peel from heat (tires). Well, it did and continues. I have the epoxy paint and am slowly convincing myself that scraping the old paint isn't enought, I'll end up sanding it back down to the concrete. I think I'll also buy some of those 1' sq interlocking mats (black and white) to park ol' Maxine on.

Jim,

I know this is kind of late and I'm not sure if anyone already posted it, but I figured I'd toss it in the pot as well. I was watching a TV show where they were organizing some couple's garage and used baskets rigged to pulleys to store stuff overhead and out of the way. Seemed like a good idea to me.

.paul - we're going to use that idea to hang the car carrier from the ceiling. Luckily we have 12 1/2' ceilings! The challenge with the pulley system is where to tie the rope off! You run stuff up in the center of the garage....then what" Well, you can run it thru a pulley on the ceiling by a sidewall and cleat it off there..thanks Jim!

I need to keep Lorie away from places like the container store - we'll buy containers we don't need and within xxxx time they'll be full. Good suggestions however!

My garage helmet storage

Helmet Storage Hanger construction is 2 inch PVC the wall flange is actually a 2 inch floor drain turned upside down & used as a flange. Measure to fit the PVC length, an end cap on top, & a 90 degree bend. Works fine.

Try organizing a 60X60 hangar. The more room you have the more you will accumulate. Trust me on this

Jimlor, You say you have 12 1/2 ft ceilings. Look at the area above the garage doors when they are open. I ran a couple of 2 x 6 joists from wall to wall above my garage doors and layed sheets of 3/4 inch plywood on the joists. Making a shelf 4 ft by 26 ft long. All the Christmas decorations, crap the Wife wants to keep, goes up there out of the way

Don/t know if you can make the shelf out behind all the planes, but the roll of carpet and a couple boxes are visible.

Holy crap - a rug in the garage! Nice planes and that looks like a great workshop. I "assume" that since you're in Canada it's a heated garage?

That really is a great idea using the space on the head wall above the garage doors, I'll definately keep that in mind, thanks!

Jim

Thanks, It has in floor heating, kinda nice during the winter. There's a workbench across the front with a Coleman electric cooler under it (used for Hydration purposes...).

You could hang your jacket/trou from that too.
Thanks that is exactly what I am going to do next. Put in a few more hangers for the jackets-maybe a second row a little lower. Lowes had all the pieces. There are cheaper methods but I wanted something a little different & larger to spread out the helmet weight on while in storage. I put them in without telling my wife what I was going to do. When she pulled her car in she said she felt like there were four heads watching her. Ride safe. Ron

I agree with the more space the more you accumulate. I've got a 5 car garage and its mostly full. But I hate a dirty cluttered garage for some reason.

That is a great looking shop. Speaking of rugs in the garage I took old carpeting and did "wall to wall" carpet in my garage. It is fantastic to work on. Very easy on the knees and crawling underneath vehicles is much more comfortable. Another benefit to this is that when you drop a small screw or tupperware fastener they stop dead where they hit the carpet.

I doubt Martha Stewart would approve of the peach color from my sisters family room combined with the deep blue from my mother's living room but it works for me. Just glue it together with carpet tape and lay it down. When it gets really dirty I blow it off with a leaf blower and go over it with the Shop Vac. That happens maybe once a year.

I've thought aboput carpeting my garage, and I do have a piece where I spend most my time standing, but what happens when you spill junk like oil etc.... on it?

I'm thinking of some of those colored tiles in Yamaha Blue and White

Its alredy got a gray epoxy on the floor now, and I like it alot but the tile would be cool.

I don't have carpet where the car sits or the bikes, due to the oil spillage thing. Most that gets spilled on the rug is maybe a Rye an Coke, which is easily sucked back outta the rug :dribble: :dribble:

Don,

That is one Sweet Areodome ya got there :) Dayum!

Screw the Sty re foam though, Balsa rulez

Styrofoam?????? If your referring to the Cub on the work stand, it's balsa framed covered in fabric and dope. 109" wingspan should weight in around 12 to 14 lbs, using an OS 120 4 stroke for power.

Whoops that came out wrong  I wasn't knocking any of your stuff, just quoting what the guys in this area have to say about that plastic stuff. :blushsmiley:

Top shelf stuff ya's got!

:jester:

Thanks.

Thought for a minute I was going to have to have my German/ American Eskimo bodyguard go Skyway on your ass.

Thank God that was avoided as he is currently crying in his beer about missing the Rush Concert. ( not that I blame him)
