I've heard that's not a good way to store your helmet(s) because it puts a lot (relatively speaking) of pressure on one spot of the helmet, which could deform the styrofoam??? Perhaps I'm making that up, but I thought I heard/read that somewhere.

Maybe buy those styrofoam heads they hang wigs on and stick them on the PVC pipe. Then you could paint eyes on 'em and really give your wife a thrill! And have spooky music play when the garage door opens...

Yeah I thought of that & that's why I used the 2" PVC with a smooth round cap on the end. I have no concerns as the pressure is spread out unlike a small peg or hook.
