I want to park a motorcycle in the Southwestern U.S. (Nevada, California, Arizona) after July 1st in order to take part in some of the great western long distance rallies, and to enjoy the remarkable scenery and roads on a quasi-regular basis.

Here’s what I’m hoping to find in a landlord:

1. A rider, with enough excess garage space to store an FJR for at least a year.

2. The person should be trustworthy and stable, and not planning a move anytime soon.

3. Proximity to a major airport is essential, i.e. be a cab ride away.

4. A person who is willing to share some regional knowledge - points of interests, and great roads.

5. Someone who will not be averse to accepting cash for this service.

My plan is to fly from Toronto and ride several times (5?) per year. I’ll be in and out quietly, just long enough to say hello, goodbye, and thank you.

I’ve considered self-storage cubicles, but would prefer having someone who can make sure the battery is charged and ready before I fly down. This should be a win/win arrangement.

If you are that person, or know someone who fits the description, please contact me at: [email protected]

I can think of a few names.... I'm sure Peter will find some good person that will see this and give him an offer he can't refuse.

Boy, that didn't take long.

A referral from an FJR rider put me in touch with what could possibly be the perfect landlord.

This weekend we'll fine tune the arrangement.

Thank you FJR rider forum.

I have a garage, tire changer and most of the tools needed to do all the maintance on the FJR. I live about 15 minutes away from Ontario cali airport and about 45 minutes away from LAX. I wouldnt want money but I would take some of that Canadian Kokanee beer.

If you need a back up plan send me a PM and we can talk :D

ynotride, just an FYI, in my opinion, Kokanee beer is not at all what it used to be since it was purchased by a major Canadian brewer (Molson?). It's been cheapened down to an average quality and now retails here in Montana for the same price as cheap domestic. Too bad. I remember the first time I tasted one, up in Revelstoke, BC, on a very, very hot day, with fresh German bread from Kaslow, cheese and salami under a shade tree in a city park ... Ahhhh...

It sure tasted good to me. I was about 5000 miles into my 7500 mile ride and just finished a 500 mile day riding thru Jasper and Banf and we stayed at a super expensive resort on the Icefields parkway.

It was the first beer of the evening and the view couldnt have been better. Also I'm a bud light drinker so anything else usually tastes good :D

A few years back I would leave a car/trailer and moto X bike in a nearby storage facility to PHX Sky Harbor for monthly use at Glamis. Was only a short cab ride ($10) away. The price was very reasonable and I never had a problem with the battery on my auto or fuel injected bike. Just an alternative if you are not able to find other storage alternatives.

If your other offer falls through, let me know. I'm about 5 minutes from San Jose airport and 30 minutes from SF airport.
Wifey & I flew into San Jose airport here a few yrs ago. I took her along on my 'memory lane' tour of Vallejo, Napa, Sonoma, and Benicia of which I lived in 3 of the 4 (not Sonoma) when I was in the Navy @ Mare Island back in, well, some time ago LOL...

Lots of turban taxi drivers at the SJ airport as I remember!

Thanks for the offers. Will see how I make out in L.A. after IBR.

Going to enjoy a flight after 11 days on a bike.
