If you use Garmin Mapsource with MS xp and have version 6.13.7 don't update to 6.14

6.14 sucks, missing features, colors make roads hard to see at normal state map scales, cartoon looking graphics :angry2: and it runs slower. This after it took Garmin support 4 hours to get map software working after their download system f'd up my puter.

6.14 sucks - stick with 6.13.7 which I found worked great.

I think I'll try to go back to the older version.

No Sh*T! I 'updated' my software and it absolutely sucks! Thought either my monitor had gone bad or that my computer had somehow reverted back to WIN95 v1.0.

Well, all I can say is Thanks!

....I was considering if I should download the update or not...now I won't.

As they say, newer is not always better.

I'll have to differ with this one. All versions of MapSucks suck!!!

But I'm running 6.14.1 and so far, it runs as well as any other version, with the exception of the screen refresh/redraws do take noticeably longer.

IMO, it does appear to resolve imported points from GPX files, better than previous versions. It does appear to make less GPS stupid moves and U-turn for no apparent reason etc.

I too, found their use of color questionable at best. The new icons are cartoonish, but they much closer match the resolution and display on the small GPS screens. I think they are exactly the same pixel count.

Garmin desperately needs a version 10.something, because they are at least four major revisions away from anything that resembles 21st century programs.

My best advice...

Buy MS Streets&Trips, GPSBabel is free, and attend Routing-101 at EOM.

:)
