Garmin MTP Settings and Mapsource

I just found out how to see my Garmin Zumo 390 in Mapsource & I figured I would share the information

First have the unit turned on and on the home screen

then select the volume screen, once on the volume screen

then press and hold the the top right of the screen until a hidden menu appears

Then scroll through the menu until you see MTP Settings select this

then you change it from "MTP Auto detect" to "Mass storage" for a permanent change or "Mass Storage single session" for a temporary change that will last until powered off.

I spoke with a tech that indicated that MTP served as a way of not erasing infor as easily as mass storage. this was not applicable to me so I made a permanent change.

If this works on any of the other units please let us all know by posting the model you had success with.

Doesn't appear to work on a 660, unless you have to hold for a LONG time (I ran out of patience at 1 minute).

I used to hate Basecamp but have reluctantly accepted it since Mapsource is no longer supported by Garmin.

I can say is that the newer releases of Basecamp are no longer wretched, it has now graduated to frustrating.
