Booked. Funny thing is that I'm in Redding now to get a Russsell butt cushion built tomorrow. That's a lotta butt.:) :)
That's right Russell is there good reason to go early and get an adjustment made and while I'm there I might as well stay for the gathering. I will have to try this new angle of attack. It will probably cost me a Russell pillion seat and that could make it a pricey weekend :)
Happy wife = Happy life
I would be IN...if only to go down to Red Bluff and see where FJRay dropped his FJR. But of course there are even MORE reasons to head out there. But this year is a nono for me.

One of these days Wheatie revenge will be mine :) :) :) :) :)

October 7th approved for time-off.

Dougie-Bear - let's blaze some sweet roads on our way to Redding! :)

I was thinking 49 and 89 on the way home. On the way up with an early start we can molest 162 perhaps? Anyway you are wiser, so I have learned to listen to your advice, so you route, I will follow.

Bummer, kitchen pass approved. But, work passed disapproved as the lowest sergeant on the totem pole I lost this time around. Sorry I will be missing it, have fun.

OK kiddies,

Here are a few routes to choose from. We have just about anything you want, long sweepers, tight technical twisties, goat trails for the stout at heart, often on the same road. Pick and choose, any and all, any of these roads are good roads.

BE AWARE! Forrest rat are everywhere! Many stretches are guard rail free and LEO's are few and far between. That can be a good thing till you need one. Also, there are lot's of Marijuana grows in the area, and they can be pretty fierce about defending them. For the most part, they are off the beaten path, so keep it in the back of your mind as you ride the remote areas.

Construction on 299 is a fact of life here. They are straightening Buck horn summit. it is pretty much a 24/7 deal at the moment. Last time I went through it was up to a 45 minute wait and there was no asphalt for quite a stretch, just hard pack that got squirrely in a few sections.

Want to do the full Monty on CA 36? I made this one a loop so you get the best of both 36 and 299. This will be an all day ride.

Don't want to do the full Monty? Go for the half Monty.

Want a more backwoods half Monty? (Great route, but I think you miss some of the best of 36)

Don't want to ride I-5 to Red Bluff? Here is a short stint on I-5 ride that gives you most of Westbound 36. Bowman is not super twisty, but is prettier that I-5 to Red Bluff.

Want the locals route to 36? Ditch Grade Road is a local favorite.

36-Been there, done that? Go North young (wo)man. To my knowledge, Hwy 3 should be back up and running by the then.

Want to ride over a volcano? We got that too. Mt. Lassen is a NP, so there is a fee. Want to make a day of it? Hit Burney Falls, https://www.burney-falls.com/, This is also a fee area, but if you go, I know a free parking area that a short hike in will get you to the same spot. Then down the road to Sub way caves (bring a flashlight, 20 minute stop and FREE!) https://www.fs.usda.gov/wps/portal/fsinternet/!ut/p/c4/04_SB8K8xLLM9MSSzPy8xBz9CP0os3gDfxMDT8MwRydLA1cj72BTJw8jAwjQL8h2VAQAzHJMsQ!!/?ss=110506&navtype=BROWSEBYSUBJECT&navid=100000000000000&pnavid=null&recid=11435&ttype=recarea&pname=Lassen+National+Forest+-+SUBWAY+CAVE

and then head on up to Mt. Lassen https://www.nps.gov/lavo/index.htm You can hike to sulfur pits at Bumpass Hell or climb to the peak. Lot's of places to get off the bike and explore. My personal favorite is Kings Creek Falls https://www.nps.gov/lavo/planyourvisit/hiking_kings_creek_falls.htm. Lunch at the Mineral Lodge is an experience to say the least. If you want, there a few wineries in Manton that have some pretty tasty offerings.

If you want to head East, there are a few tasty roads that are within striking distance. Dougie bear has more knowledge that I in this area. One of my favorite day loops in that direction is Bucks Lake Road. Or, you can just stay on 70. Side note, there is a Shakeys Pizza in Oroville https://www.shakeys.com/locations/oroville

Enjoy!

Good **** Gregory. :) :) :) :)
Thank you sir! How's the new seat?

Oh yea,

We have 2 seat makers in town. Seth Laam, who's work graces my ever expanding ***, https://laamseats.com/ And,

Russel Day Long https://www.day-long.com/ up the road.

Add a day, do a ride in, take the Dam tour https://www.usbr.gov/projects/Facility.jsp?fac_Name=Shasta+Dam
Dam tour is fun.

If you enjoy caves, Shasta Caverns is really cool. It includes a ride across the lake on the pontoon boat and a small bus ride up to the entrance. Been there 2 times and may go again https://lakeshastacaverns.com/

Just an FYI, when I was at Russell on the fourth of this month they were booking well into August and they only do ride in work Mon-Thurs and one a day. If you want an appt. you better get at it soon
