Strangest thing - I get a phone call from my gen 2 bashing buddy Tony - who you know as 101stpathfinder - Some concern in his voice as he knows a mutual friend that stopped by my house. He (aka mutual friend) wanted to know who the heck I was talking about?

Then again after all the miles Tony has ridden maybe it's time for a more sedate type of ride.
One where every 100 miles or so you attend to electrical failures. I suspect instead of retiring or walking away from 10k in 10 days he bought a gen ll and now has a legit excuse as to why he can't do the miles anymore.

Congrats on upgrading Tony! I rode my bike with the seat in the low position after letting a buddy ride it and not sure how I got on for all those years on my knee crampin', wide side casin', thigh burnin', too short a gears, glovebox breakin', spongy seatin', gotta pull over to adjust the headlights, valves a tickin' oil burning Gen 1!!!

The black side cases- I'm a gear whore. I shop CL all the time.
Stuff comes up cheap/I buy it- sometimes stuff I don't even need.
My 05 cases are scratched- so I have "Show" cases (The black ones) and
I have every day use cases (The blue ones) This is NOT uncommon...

This is FUNny stuff! Same ship goes on in my Jetski & Snowmobile forums lol. Peeps there are so stuck on 'their' older machines (and granted that's what they're use to and feels comfortable to them etc). Some won't or can't upgrade b/c of funding or maybe wify's got the nards under wraps but it is the exact same stuff and you got to admit it's entertaining. G1 or G2 and wait.. soon the G3 riff will enter the mix!)
I know one thing, your bike IS better than mine (cuz it's yours!)

Yup, goes on over on the FZ1 forums too. And they have actual real differences between the Gen's (carb vs FI, tank size, etc) there rather than some minor differences between the Gen's here.
