There, you now you have PROOF !!!

The catalyst starts at the cone so to try an get a picture is very difficult.

Nuff said.
This thing with the black cap is the catalyst?Or is a screwdriver or a something like that?I can't see a catalyst there..

It's called a flashlight.

Remember your trying to look down a curved pipe about 8 to 10 inches long. I am not going to cut my perfectly good exhaust pipe in half at this time. If someone wants to send me one I will gladly cut it in half.

You should go first!

I personally believe there's a unicorn living in '03 European headers between the bend and the cat and debilitating fungus around the O2 sensor of '07 that's causing the spiders. Yamaha ain't fessing up to it as exampled by their obvious and willfull lying in the FSM about oil drainplug torque and failure to fix defective side stands. I think people asking others to get out chop saws for the cat should take chop saws to their own motorcycles if they have these years....just to satisfy my curiosity.

C'mon Greece and AJ....inquiring minds demand to know! You'll be sainted, talked about well (or at least less disparangingly) and everybody will change their signature lines to your avatars. Show us there's no mythical miniature unicorns...show us there's no fungus amongus!

If i had a damaged manifold pipes and a damaged muffler from a Gen2,i would do that to open up them. But i haven't.

I don't think that is too bad if someone has the damaged things and have the time to open up them and see what is really have inside there..

Also, thanks ''Dave'' for the effort to take a photo from inside of your muffler. It is very difficult to take a photo there.

Zilla can gladly send me one of his pipes and I will certainly disect it for him.

Edit: Maybe Zilla can get one of his FBI buddies to enhance the photo. Although somewhat blurry you can see the dark circle and the honeycomb detail. Very simular to the one you see in the manifold cat's.

The point is that if there was somebody with a damaged header or exhaust...they've have spoken up long ago. This ain't a new discussion. Asking and asking is just NEPRT.

If you really are interested...post a Classified - Wanted for a header or exhaust pipe and offer to pay for shipping. Cut it open and help the forum.

In the meantime though...you have a live animal trapped in your header man! It's something you can act on now. You should let him out!

to ask him if he was 95% sure it was an 06 to 12 it came off(bike scrapper/seller dude).. If he says yes I will be more than happy to have him send it to the

person the board trust most do perform the delicate operation and provide pictures. it would be nice if 4 1/2 of you would volunteer $10.00 or so

towards the purchase, frt is free.

Not cats or mufflers were injured during filming

Images were obtained using a USB boroscope connected to a macbook

You're welcome

Well, since we already made NEPRT...

Here is the one that lives at my house:

It is not inside the muffler though. Maybe someone else can post a cat pic to make 'Zilla happy?

Damn.. Much ado aboot nothing.

Glad I din open this til just now. damned irritating waste of time.. But! I did manage to shave me nutz while lookin in.

Thanks, Silver Spirit. That's good enough for me. I'm now a believer. Before this thread, it was apocryphal as far as I was concerned.

And to everyone who'll accept any and everything based on a blurb on a product-heavy website, there's a guy in New Mexico who'd like to sell you a bridge. You can pay for it with your Nigerian bank windfall.

Gosh this was painful but thanks Silver Spirit. It seems we have a definitive answer. Do you do colanostipy's on the side? Please excuse my misspelling. When bust gets his

head stuck up is rectum this could come in handy.

Hugs and kisses Bust,

Dave

I would just ask that other than the drain plug, what ever has been incorrect on Yamaha's website? We have 11+ years of experience to validate. Just what exactly has been off?

ROFLMAO (or something)

I've dealt with my share of a$$holes, for sure. And will doubtless endure more of 'em. But I'm disinclined to get that close to any.

I bought the (cheap Chinese-made) boroscope, (not endoscope!), expressly for examining otherwise inaccessible areas of machines and such.

OTOH, I'll be happy to donate it to help any forum member experiencing a cranio-colonic impaction crisis, for the cost of shipping, (don't bother returning it after use

)

OH, and yer on yer own as far as procedure....
