What do the gen III bikes not have a cruise that works above 80 mph?
Speculating you meant to write "WHY do the gen III bikes..." not "What..."

The answer is even more speculation, but considering people in North America sue the company that sells them hot coffee, I'd pretty much guess for Yamaha to avoid being sued by some idjit who got himself kilt putting along at 100mph with his throttle controlled by a computer, rather than by the idjit him/herself.

it's nothing new. I had a '92 Voyager with a limit at 85. Of course, 85 on that bike was really about 78, so it was even worse.

It's no big deal for me. If I want to cruise at over 82, I'll just grab the throttle like I would on an earlier model ;)

Well, you answered my question, but I should have put a comma after "what".

I was thinking you'd left out a question mark -- "What? Do the gen III bikes not have a cruise that works above 80 mph?" But I think the answer is probably right nonetheless. My favorite stupid lawsuit is one that most people seem not to have heard of. How about Louisville Slugger being sued for making the bat that hit the ball that killed a young player?
