Could you please someone tell me,if and how can i adjust the angle of the mirrors?
I see that they have underside a nut.I tried to move them forward or backward, but they didn't move.If i will unscrew this nut,the mirror will go forward or backward?Or the position of the mirror is fixed from the factory in their brackets?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Fred,The mirror glass can move inside the painted housing very easy, but i would like to move the mirror from the bracket a bit forward..

Perhaps someone with a Gen ii bike will read the post and can answer about...

ps,

I installed Gen 2 Mirrors in my Gen 1 because i like them, and i would like to know about...

The mirror housing can fold forward or back but is held in the

outboard position by a detent.

The nut you speak of should be loose enough to allow movement in case of a minor bump, but not so loose as to allow movement from wind blast. The bracket has a detent in it to align the mirror in the same position. I suppose you could overide this but nor sure how effective this will be.

Good luck,

Mark

I haven't had stock mirrors for a few years now? If I remember correctly the mirror housing sits in a one position indent only? The housing could be moved a little to bring the itself in towards the bike, probably to prevent breaking the mirror stem from a tip over? It's funny how I can't remember if the mirror glass face moved inside the housing for adjustment? If you're able I would highly recommend the FZ1 mirror replacement! Some people don't like the look but the rear view is "priceless"! As for moving the entire mirror someone may have already taken that nut off and hasn't put the cupped washers back in the correct sequence? I had that problem when I goofed up put mine back in after removing the mirrors to get the bike through my basement door!

You mean that the position is standard?or can i adjust this position a bit forward or backward if i will unscrew the nut?
The nut tightens against a group of 4 or 6 cupped washers? I don't think you can overtighten or loosely tighten but if those washer aren't in correctly you loose tension that holds the mirror in the indent!

From what i read until now,the only way to adjust the mirrors,is to move the mirror glass in the housing..

Yes. Just outside of the mounting point there is a pivot point. This is there so the mirror will have some give incase of a tip over or bumped so it won't break off. Its not a adjustment. The glass is adjusted in the housing. There is not a lot of adjustment. This is why many have switched to FZ1 mirrors...

I like the Gen2 mirrors, but i think with my previous Gen1 mirrors, the rear view was better...

I know you just put those knuckle things on your mirrors, but if you really want to see, get rid of the OEM mirrors and replace them with the Gen1 FZ1 mirrors...If you actually want to see what's behind you, you'll love them.

Your other option are the mirror extender blocks available from Twisted Throttle. Basically black delrin (maybe just nylon) blocks and bolt extensions. Put the blocks against the bike and the mirror on the blocks. I think that moves them an inch.

or you can disable the folding arrangement by removing the cup washers, and "nesting" them inside each other [this disables the spring], adding a few flat washers to make up for the lost space, and then clamp the mirror stalks where ever you want. I positioned mine more outboard to get rid of the view of my elbows and to partially eliminate the blind spot.. oh yeah- you have to remove the metal plate between the stalk and mount too.

You mean these Dave? They came with the mirrors that i bought, but i decided to remove them..I have them.

The ones I use are more flat and don't protrude like those in the pictures. There are several options as mentioned here its up to you to decide what works best.

The stack of washers referred to can corrode thereby making the mirror feel solid. The nut can be undone, the mirror removed and everything greased up. The main problem is getting the washers back on as they came off as they are concave and stacked in different positions. So their positions shoild be noted when dismantling.
