GenI trunk fit GenII?

Aside from color, are OEM trunks the same? I believe the mounting plates differ where they interface with the tail, but a genI trunk should mate to a genII mounting plate.

You say the plate is the same? From GenI to GenII? I've seen these models have different part numbers for the mounting plate. Can you clarify that?

Two sides to the plate.  The bottom, which fits to the bike.  And the top, which fits to the trunk.  The top is the same for all years.  It is a standard Givi pattern and will hold any Givi trunk.

Just bought an OEM trunk from 2003 (silver) model and used a genII mounting plate. Silver looks good with Cobalt, ties in with all the other silver on my 2006.
