I'm trying to stay away from the AWACS look if at all possible. Here's a shot of the top case alone:

Here's top case and side cases:

With the side cases I think it looks just right, but I'm not real good with judging these things! What say ye?

definitely the way to go - next on your list should be the Admore light kit for that box - the increased visual can't be beat. I find that i rarely ride without all three bags on the bike.

I like what SkooterG wrote, function over form.

To be honest, I cannot stand my FeeJay without side or top box. Fully loaded does she looks super awesome to me........

Too many bags. I'm only loaded when traveling [more than a few days] with the trunk...too AWACS for me!

YMMV !

I never remove the top case. (Givi E52 color-matched!) It stores my gear when I'm at work, and it carries groceries when I stop by the supermarket on the way home.

Right side cases carry weather gear (rain suit and jacket/pants liners.) Top and left side are empty for commuting or day rides, and when I stop somewhere I put my jacket and pants in the top case, helmet in the side case. My camera bag exactly fits the side case, too.

Of course, if all I had was the ugly-*** Yammy topcase, like majicmaker's, I'd leave it off whenever I could, like he does!

I usually ride with the sidebags and my PCA backrest. I snap on my GIVI E460 when I need more storage or for a long trip with the wife. The 460 holds a lots o' stuff but I'm wishing I would have gone with the 52. You'll be happy with it.

Walt, Please, Please Please! Lets not get into who's top case is uglier. You would loose that argument before it begins. Let me just point out that the Yamaha top box was MADE for the FJR. Yours...... Not so much! But...... I still Love You Mannn! In a very Manly way or course.

Interesting.... I have a E52 and often when two up wish for the E55.

I've had a Givi Maxi E55 and this is one wide-*** top box! Too big actually, so I am moving it to my Burgman 650, which already looks fat, so the E55 almost blends in. I'm switching to an E46 on the FJR, which looks more proportional. Givi actually warns not to fill the E55 with really heavy content anyway, as it can be "overloaded" for its mount and position.

Apparently Old Michael can't read Italian as I've seen his E55 overflowing with his set of bagpipes and his kilt and the mount seems to hold up just fine!

I've got the Shad but it hasn't come off since I got it and my side cases never come off. It's amazing how much they can hold and how quickly you can fill them up. Helmet, cold weather gear, stitch, that pretty much takes up 95% of the space of all three when I go to work. It IS nice to be able to store 100% of your gear out of site though. Also, in the Texas summer it's nice to wear shorts and a t-shirt under your mesh suit. Swap out the sneakers you have in the top box for your boots and secure everything. Then when you walk into the restaurant to meet up with your buds and they are all dressed as power rangers in the restaurant and they look at you and say "I thought you were riding?" is just classic!

Long story short....sure they look ugly, but once you start using them, you'll wonder two things.

1. How you got along without them in the past.

2. How you can get more storage space.

:D
