I got my Givi box and silver rack (from Gary McCoy) a couple of days ago and have been considering options from nothing to powder coating to painting.

Has anyone painted their Givi rack to match the '05 blue? If so, what paint did you use? I searched on Toyota Blue (I think that's what I've read) but came up empty...unless I missed it in the 5 pages of search results. Can someone post up the matching blue paint color code?

Thanx, in advance.

Once someone posts the color codes here, perhaps they could go into the tips/tricks/FAQS and post them there.

I put a post under the procedures FAQS aka Tips and Tricks for us to easily locate the color codes. If you know a blend or product that works for ANY FJR color, please post it over there, as well as the Galaxy Blue info here for BP.

Perhaps we should have a new category under FAQS for commonly asked stuff like certain wire colors torque values and data that we commonly look for? Just a thought. I know Warchild and other sites have a lot of that stuff already.

Thanx. I've read Warchild's FJRTech article on powdercoating the rack high gloss diamond black.

Right now I'm just considering my options. However, w/ me, if black is a popular color for the rack, I'll probably do something different! Se la vie!

But, again, thanx.

@ FJRocket

I've done some more searches (much better here than over there) and found the following...

1. Duplicolor TY01612 Toyota Stellar Blue Metallic (8L7)

2. PPG Deltron Acrylic Urethane but no code to identify the shade of blue.

Are these correct? Anyone know the code for #2?

Hi brazos, I have been painting my racks PPG Deltron BC/CC which is expensive, about $40 / 8 oz. for the paint plus the clear plus the hardener plus the reducer. I had the paint supplier scan and match the Galaxy Blue color as no code exists to my knowledge. Another poster says that the Toyota color is very close. Do you intend to spray it yourself or have a shop do it? If you don't spray a lot of paint, I'd have the shop do it. You could have them mix up a 1/4 pt of the Toyota color in either Deltron or Centari and try it. It may then need to be tweaked a bit to closely match your bike.

@ Garauld

Thanx for the info on how you paint your very impressive racks...gotta get one in the future as I will only use the Givi on LD trips.

I don't spray much paint so may take your advice and have a shop paint it.
