12 men in a huddle, a couple interceptions? Feh! NOTHING in the Vikings' game that a tub of Lester Hayes stick-um wouldn't have cured.

Thinking that EVERYONE still under contract for next year should be allowed to leave the Vikings facility ONLY after having an official NFL football superglued to at least one hand . . . while being required to report in the spring with the same ball still attached. Pathetic to outgain the opposition so handily, have the D step up against a great Saints offense and STILL lose due to excessive gift giving. (Hmmmm, that read a lot like a description of my ex with her sister's family, esp. around Christmas.)

Life as a Vikes fan...

Interesting listening to KFAN on PocketRadio this am. Good thoughts; it was a good ride, and we sure as he** wouldn't have been playing yesterday with Sage or TJack taking the snaps this season.

Late July in Mankato, for another run at it!!! ;)

What's sage and tjack? two of the "spice" girls?
Tarvaris Jackson | #7 |

Sage Rosenfels | #2 |

Yup. They were taping Favre's ankle and TJack didn't even get to take off his cap and put a helmet on.

Pathetic.

Childress gave gave up his coaching spot to Favre weeks months ago. :fool:

I'm not a Viking fan...but I was rooting for them just because Brett Favre showed the toughness that you have to admire him for.

Everybody is on Favre for that interception at the end, but if he didn't have that toughness to stick around when he was getting repeatedly BEAT DOWN to the turf, the Vikings wouldn't have been even close to the Saints.

I salute Brett Favre.

I also give a big ZERO to Adrian Peterson...alias Mr Fumble. HOLY CRAP...can he have an operation to fix that? The fumbling problem that is.

BUT.....

AN NFC Championship game going into overtime...how great is that after seeing "blowouts" in the other playoff games.

My hat is off to both teams! Neither gave up nor gave in, each challenged the other and exploited weaknesses the best they could while playing to their own strengths. If one is a sports fan and tries to understand the philosophies behind the game, THIS was a wonderful game!

It almost makes one feel like a Roman at the coliseum watching the Gladiators......

Yupper,

Great Game. Brett Farve is one tuff SOB. The hits he took through out that game. Hats off to him. Regardless to that last meatball interception.. The Viking's shot themselves in the foot with a six shooter 5 times! Twice resulting in game changing points points. 7 up for the Saints and minus 7 or at least 3 for the Vikes. Fumblitus was the damn theme. Poor coaching at the end (12 in the huddle) even after 2 timeouts was (is) worth somebody losing their job. That changed the out come of the game. Good luck to the Saints.. They gonna need it against the Colts. The Saints have a good offense but their defense really

sucked against the Vikes. They need to step it up, big time. If they are going to even have a shot at keeping up with the Colts offense..

My poor Vikes were 1 pick, or 1 good kick or 1 fumble away from the win. BUT... Hell...thats been their story all season.

Hats off to them none-the-less. They are a great team and were a lot of fun to watch. Here's to hoping Farve has one more season in him.

It was, without a doubt, one of the most exciting games I've ever seen. Clearly the stats indicate the Vikings should have won, not withstanding the turnovers. In retrospect, however, one needs to look only to the events near the end of regulation. Pick it up after the penalty for too many in the huddle.

That puts Longwell on the outer edge of possibilities but there is still one more down. All Favre has to do is roll out and gain a few yards. The short zone is cleared out by sending the receivers deep so running for five yards is a good bet. If he can't complete a pass or is in danger of getting sacked, throw it away. At least Longwell will still get a chance to win. It was the perfect call. The only bad option was to throw an interception, especially back across the field into all the pursuit.

I will never discount the sportsmanship or courage of Favre. He is doubtless one of the greatest players of the game. Perhaps now our western friends will come to understand and feel the Favre-induced angst that Packer fans have suffered for many years.

Regarding the fans of the green and gold, I'd like to ask each and every one of them running their mouth about Favre just one question:

So you would be okay with him going into the Hall of Fame as something other than a Packer?

I would think that 100% of the honest ones would say no.

How Favre goes into the Hall of Fame is an administrative issue with the NFL. Actually, I believe the player is inducted under his own recognizance with a byline concerning the team(s) for which he played. Joe Montana, who played for San Francisco and Kansas City is the first that comes to mind.

Favre has always been a controversial person. The way he conducted himself at the end of his last season with the Packers is really his defining memory in the opinion of many. There was an obvious conflict between him and Ted Turner, the new Packer GM. From managements perspective, they needed to know Favre's intentions because Rodger's contract was coming due and plans had to be made for the future. Favre, on the other hand, felt Turner was giving him the bum's rush and was being disrespected. Favre (or his agent) couldn't make a commitment one way or the other. Who knows? The whole incident is replete with speculation from many extremes, most of which are divided between personality conflicts and contract terms.

Actually, I doubt there would have been any controversy if Favre would have made up his mind, one way or another, and decided in a timely manor that which would have benefited both parties . The Packer fans harbor no resentment to those seeking better opportunity. Consider as evidence the movement of Vince Lombardi to Washington and Mike Holmgren to Seattle. There are statues erected and streets named for both and they are still revered in Green Bay.

The whole sordid mess can best be described in one word: sad. There was no winner. The Green Bay fans were denied an eternal icon, Minnesota denied a Messiah.

So yer sayin' Viking Purple for 'ol Brett then?
I am unsure how that decision would be made (even if Farve stays for another year and brings a ring to MN)...

As much as I would like him to be a Viking in the Hall of Fame, Green and Gold would be the way it should be

in that situaton.

Just my .02,

WW

I agree, BUT... what if the Green and Gold fandom have rejected him for going over to the perceived enemy?

EDIT: I've never been a Packer fan, but I do admire anyone that can take the licking he got in NO and get back up knowing he's gonna take some more.
