best wishes scott! take good care of your fixed up labia. it will be good to you in return! ;)

Boy, Scott, you just keep milking this "foot-pursuit-gone-bad".

First a few days off...then some free dental work....now "Fun-In-Surgery" followed by Physical Terror-py...

Next I suppose you'll be reprimanded for participating rather than commanding....oh wait... :dribble: IIRC, you DID get the standard, sub-standard instructions, "Supervisors are supposed to take charge and direct their subordinates, not participate in a foolhardy manner" speech. There might be some wisdom in that approaceh.

I'm seriously sorry you're going through this. Thankfully it has been found now rather than a decade from now. Heal well and we'll see you in Golden.

Heading to the hospital tomorrow for scheduled surgery on my shoulder that was injured back in June on the job.
Doc says I have several tears in some thingee in my shoulder. I thought he said it was the labia, but that just doesn't sound right :)

Anyhow, they say I'll be in quite a bit of pain (even on meds) for a few days, off work for at least two weeks, in a mobility inhibiting sling for 10 weeks, and on limited duty for six months. Ugh.

Also means I'll be off the bike for at least 3 months too. That's what really sucks.

See you on the other side when I get back.....

Just read this post. Really sucks. Surgery put me off the bike a while last year and I feel for ya! Look on the bright side though. Mad Mike went back to work so now you could take his role of pain ridden curmudgeon

Seriously, heal up, do what the doctors say and get back on the bike healthy and happy.

As it is now "tomorrow" I hope the surgery went well.........

Best of luck on the surgery.

Buy yourself an inflatable pool and have fun. Best thing I ever did for my shoulder injuries.

We'll be here when you wake up. Be sure to post while medicated. It makes for awesome forum entertainment.

:)

Bummer dude,

while I wish you the best, youshould really freakin gear up to do some serious PT!! when your sholder is wrong you will not be enjoying biking at all. once a week I do a whole hour on sholders and it makes all the difference!!

My surgery went well and I didn't die. Well, if I did, I'd very very nervous at this point if I were you because you'd be reading a post send from a dead guy!

They didn't have to fillet me after all, he was able to successfully repair the damage arthroscopically, so my pain and recovery time are a bit less than what it could have potentially been.

The beautiful thing about the drugs they've given me is that I sleep a lot, but I'm awake at weird hours for small intervals like this one. But, either the meds, the anesthetic, or just having food is causing me to throw up regularly. Nurse said that should stop sometime today. I hope she's right.

Anyhow, the pain is pretty intense at times, but as long as I'm in a near comatose state and motionless, it's pretty tolerable. Hopefully by Monday it should be pretty tolerable without being in a coma. and I'll have the laptop up and running.

As for NAFO, I'll be there.

Oh, and for the humorless, yes, I know it isn't a labia. That was a joke for crying out loud.

Glad you are alive! Or we are both dead....whatever...........

Rest up and take the meds. The vomiting should stop, though some narcotics can cause nausea. If it continues call the doc for advice.

And enjoy your coma!

Scott, if they have you on a "self adminstered pump", use it for advantage over pain. Your sleep will help the healing process. They will cut back your meds when they are rady for you to get up and around.

Yep, I understand the "weird" hours routine. That's okay, my man, its more important that you are repaired and healing than keeping a schedule. You can regulate that once youare home.

Hey...you're awfully chipper for someone post-surgery.

...and your post has alot more clarity than others around here than don't have meds for excuses... :)

This man speaketh the truth. Toughing out the pain doesn't help. Relax and enjoy the meds. Rest and let your body heal, in anticipation of when the PT begins.

Nausea/vomiting and a few other unpleasant things are common side effects of the good drugs. They will abate as you get off the heavy duty drugs, or you can add more drugs to deal with the nausea. Zofran is one of the best.

Get well soon. You may be the only attendee at NAFO willing to show off your labia :)

Jill
