And the ST1300 was designed by dinosaurs for dinosaurs.

This is a forum devoted to FJRs. If you want to whine about them, go to an ST 1300 forum and tell them how great the last of the ST1300s was in comparison to any generation of FJR.

If you buy a new 2012 ST1300 (they still havent been able to sell them all), be sure to check the tire date codes. Theyve about expired.

You can't compare Gold Wings to FJR's.

Two totally different machines. The FJR is sport touring, the Wing is touring-that simple. After Bambi killed my FJR I went to the Wing and love it for LD duty, with or without the Mrs. It has more comfort and much less wind noise than any other bike I have been ridden, my old ears love the quiet on those 600 mile plus days.

Handling? It's no FJR but it does much better than most folks think even with the car tire and way better than any touring bike from Milwaukee.

But then again the FJR is a pig in the handling and stopping dept. compared to my 990 Supermoto.

I figured my 08 Wing would be the last touring bike I would need as it should do 300,000 miles with ease but with all the super improvements I may be tempted to look long and hard at the new model Wing in a year or two. From what I have seen and read Honda seems to have brought the new wing to a new level.

The Feejeer is a great compromise when you can only have one bike but it's so nice to have multi tools in the stable to optimize the type of riding planed for the day.

Since we won't shut up about it, I rode an ST1300 as a cop bike. **** that bike. At 110mph, it shook and wobbled so bad even I wouldn't push it faster. It's a known problem that Honda can't fix. Unlike others, I also hated the sewing machine sound. It was dated, because now they all are. What's funny, is that bike was like a 2006, maybe 2008 , and they're still the same. It was no match for my FJR.

Then I had a friend buy an ST1300, in about 2010. His buddy who had an ST1100 was talking mad **** about how much faster that Honda was than the FJR. So, I did what any mature adult would do, I went on a ride with them. When I got to the top of the Crest Rd., I got my helmet off and locked up before that pig finally showed up. Turned out, he "almost lost" the Honda because he said, "The front wheel washed out." Maybe, but he didn't look any better in the straights either. That was the last time I rode with them. They decided I ride too fast for their comfort.

I guess it is what it is, but this thead is reminding me of all the loser HD dorks that tell me how their 65hp POS will walk away from "that POS Jap Bike." Funny...hasn't happened yet! I guess the Japanese make better bikes than the Milwaukee crowd thinks, and Honda isn't as special as the Hondalytes think.

I have not had a chance to ride a ST but from a mechanics viewpoint I would rather work on a FJR any day.

As far as the new wing one of my customers is buying a 2018 and says I can have it for a weekend test. Gotta love customers like that.:)

This is a thread about the new Goldwing isn't it ? Lighten up Francis---I mean you are scaring people with all this tough talk --right?

This is why we can't have nice things.

Same advice to you Francis. More signal and less noise. And, FYI. It looks like you were the first one to go off-topic about STs in this thread.

Yes, we have a few non-FJR threads and topics. But make no mistake, the primary reason for this forum is......say it with me.....FJRs.

And some other folks should probably go for a ride and stick to listed thread topic at the very least.

Thanks

The Management
