Welllllll..... this has been a lot more agony than it should have been.....

I've been wrestling with what set of killer aftermarket slip-ons to score for my R1 for many weeks now.

After a crapload of research, it came down to two choices: Akrapovic, or Graves Motorsports.

The Akrapovic needs no discussion, they are among the best in the world, and look oh-so totally tits:

Regarding the Graves systems, anyone who knows anything about Yamaha's AMA Superbike campaign knows that they *exclusively* run the Graves full titanium exhaust systems, which sound about as wicked as it gets at speed:

So which one did I finally order? :D

Neither!!

I ordered the Yamaha GYTR carbon fiber slip-ons from Sunnyside, and saved enough over the other two systems to score a PCIIIusb to boot! :D

They should be shipped and arrive by the time I get back from my business trip a week from Monday.... WOO-HOO, can't wait for these babies!!

Why didn't you just hire Paul Sr. and Paul Jr. to fabricate a custom set for you at OCC? ;)

-- I'd have to have (2) sets of those GYTR's, one for the bike, one for my bedroom wall; (look honey, it's industrial art!...)

Those are definitely HOT!

If WC stepped up and got the R1-LE in yellow the pipes could stand for

GAY YELLOW TRACK - RACER :haha:

What happened to those cool LASER or LAZER pipes?

After studying them for a while, I decided that they just break up the R1's body lines a little too much. They are cool, no doubt, but the bike really is designed for a dual canister setup, not four.

I've also read (more than one instance) a few negative comments regarding fitment issues on the Laser.

Since `68, or possibly earlier, GYT has stood for Genuine Yamaha Tuning. Back when I put a GYT-Kit on my DT-1, the R probably would have stood for race. Now, I imagine it stands for Rice...

Yamaha knows the majority of owners remove this cheese, so they conveniently designed it such that it's held on by four easy-to-access socket-head bolts.

Believe me, my R1 fender was ripped off loooooong ago..... here, I am removing the 2nd of the four that retain the fender:

Funny thing is................I never saw a "Group Buy" offered for these??????

You slipp'n WC

What's "out of place" is those passenger foot pegs. Those should have been the first thing to go on an R1.
You can't pick up the bitches on your pimp ass ride if they go no where to put their feet!
