Was wondering if anyone can recommend a good dealer in the Houston metro area? Also anyone know a Houston area dealer (good or otherwise) that has an FJR (a or ae) in stock right now?

I can't... which is a crying shame. The local dealer doesn't impress me whatsoever, and I wasn't able to find any others who were much better back in '04 when I bought my FJR. Since then, I've done all my own maintenance, so I haven't bothered to do any more investigating.

I did see an FJR on the floor at Texas Yamaha in Webster a week or so ago. I was in their buying an air filter and some grommets/screws. That's the local dealer I'm not impressed with though.

I bought my FJR from a dealership in Texarkana... and was exceptionally pleased with the service.

Tejas Motorsports in the Highlands about 10 miles east of downtown Houston is where I bought my '05 FJR and they have always treated my right on service and were willing to deal on price. They had an FJR on the showroom floor a couple of weeks ago but haven't been there since.

They did the repair on my '05 ticker at 18k miles and now at 55k miles it is running STRONG.

Just had my valve clearances checked by them and all was good. Their service department is a CLEAN place to work.

Texas Yamaha in Webster does have an '08 on the showroom floor as of last Friday but you will pay full retail if you buy from them - they don't negotiate price. I buy parts from them but thats all.

Last time I went over to Houston Yamaha Motorsports (9550 FM 1960 Road West) and to their credit they did seem to know a few things about FJRs and I was pretty happy with their work. They are opening a branch in Katy south of I-10 on the feeder just west of Fry (near Bahama Mama snowcones, highly recommended) in June. Hopefully they will be a good shop.

Houston Motorsports also have shop on the southwest freeway and they had an AE in there about a month ago. Wildwest has a used but over priced 07 on the lot for about 4 or 5 months now, maybe they will talk by now.

I bought my '06AE from Brennam Yamaha. They seem to know about FJR's, the owner has had a couple himself. I get my service done at Cycle Shack North in Conroe (a little far for you) and have had good luck. They also reassembled it after Durango Man ran it over CLICKY And they (Dan) did a very good job, no complaints.

Thanks guys. I had seen the one at Wild West when I stopped by to check out a C14. I bought my last atv from them and they were pleasant to deal with that time. I also headed out to Tejas on Monday (they are one of the few places that's open on Monday and I was off). They seemed pleasant (no hard sell) from my experience with them. They and an 08AE which was cool because I was curious what the color would look like in person.

I didn't even talk price with them as I was not looking to make a deal that day so didn't want to get involved with that. Thanks for all the input. Didn't see it until today because my thread was moved into this forum (where it no doubt belongs) and I didn't know this forum was even on the board. :)

Does Wild West carry Yamaha? If so, you're in luck. Dan Drom, Service manager there is excellent. They did all the work on my BMW's for many years and I never had a complaint. Don't know about the sales guys, all the ones I knew have left.

Still looking for an FJR?

I am considering selling mine. It's a 2005 FJR with ABS. It has 8700 miles on it. Heck, I could drive it down to you.

Let me know if you are looking..

I am still looking, yes. Feel free to email me with some info and price/pics if you decide you want to sell it. I was hoping to find an 06 or newer to avoid the heat issues but if the deal was right I could install whatever fixes are available for the heat issues if you haven't already done it. WW only carries some Yamahas on consignment or from trade ins. They are a Honda, BMW, & KTM dealer. Their service department has a pretty good reputation out here.
