Well I'm finally getting rid of my '05 FJR and I say good riddance. I know this is blasphemy to some of you dyed in the wool FJR nuts, but don't get your shorts in a wedgie. Let's get real guys, that '05 FJR isn't the only sport touring bike out there. I figured there must be something better, some newer technoloy or a more refined bike and I set out to find it. Don't get me wrong. The old bike served its purpose, but it was not perfect and it required maintenance. Hell, every 10k or 11k, I had to buy tires and the battery crapped out after 2 years and I even had to change the oil fairly often because the odometer kept registering bigger numbers! So, it was time to lose that bike and get something better! There, I said it: BETTER.

If anyone is still reading this and hasn't baled because of my ranting or the suggestion of a better bike, maybe you can help me with some info that is probably buried somewhere on this site. I need a good source for bar risers and a color matched Givi V46. Oh, and they should fit my '07 FJR. Thanks,

Wildcat48

Givi says they 'should' have the 07 color matched lid in the next few weeks according to an email I recieved some time ago. They are definatly doing it tho (so they say).

You had me going.. I thought this was going to be about the 08' Concours?

I too had an 05 and was none too happy to let it go. I put 11K miles on it and it was great! So I got an 07 and while I expect it will be a "better" bike, it is not now. It takes a while to get any bike just right for you. Well I got the 05 just right for me and now I'm in the process of getting the 07 just right. I also feel the fjr isn't really broken in until about 5 or 6k miles.

I got a CalSi medium screen, better than the tall yamaha screen. The trottle is a lot more on and off with the 07 so I got a PCIII - just installed. It makes the throttle response much better. I just ordered the variable cam throttle tube. Should have it installed next weekend.

I was in Richmond VA all day by car but when I got home at 9pm I had to take the fjr out for an hour ride.

I had the yamaha Corbin seat on the 05 and I think I will be looking for a better than stock seat on the new one.

Good riding.

Thanks, The CalSi medium screen is taller than the tall Yamaha screen? What's a "variable cam throttle tube" anyway?

Thanks Steve,

Where do I buy the Givi when the 07 color comes in?

I have to admit, I've been tempted to trade my '05 in for an '06, or '07 too. Not matter what other people say, I'll admit it too.

I am tempted to get and '07. I love that "dark cherry" color. However since I've had the '06 only about 10 months and only 12000 miles AND spent 3k on farkles. AND just got my Escort RD mounting hardware just installed. That added to the fact I haven't had a chance to go on a "long" ride/vacation. All that had convinced me that I can wait a couple of years and trade up to a very nicely farkled USED 2007 FJR1300. Or maybe a 3-4 year old GW as a "second bike"!!

I don't even know if I have an "altitude problem" yet.

did I say, "I love my FJR', yet? No, well I love my FJR.... Now about decent tires.....And Skyway's riding light set-up is oh so cool... and the color matches the '07 dark cherry...... Hmmm. Maybe I need two FJR's, one for a back-up!

I thought for sure he was going to buy a six year old Aprilia Futura. YMMV.

IMO, my FJR was not close to breaking in until after 10k miles. It's finally getting past the annoying I4 buzz. YMMV.

You might want to hold off on that purchase for a bit. Now that the 07s have been out for a few months I hear rumors that they are starting to have the exact same problems. Inexcusable I say...

Guess I will just have to suck it up and learn to live with that POS '05 of mine. :)

After riding a Shadow 600 year round it feels like a damn Caddy!
