So, I'm in the library reading my latest issue of Motorcyclist (which, if it doesn't improve itself quick, it'll replace the Charmin!) and I open to the Letters section and read a letter from an FJR owner who claimed to get rear ended on the interstate. He wrote that he was doing 65 and was hit by a cage doing 90! He claims to have bounced onto the hood, fall onto the road, dodge a couple of cars at speed, get to the shoulder, dial 911 while still standing... No name published, but he claims to be from Diamond Bar...

Can I call ******** on this one?

Anyone we know?

TWN and just what do you expect out of a magazine that costs only 12.00 for a 2 year subscription????????????????????????????? My God man, I'm suprised the guy wasnt identified as being Big Foot or some other tabloid headliner. I get that magazine too, but like they say, you get what you pay for. I also subscribe to Motorcycle Consumer News and Road Runner, both top notch publications. Motorcyclist is just good cheap entertainment, good library reading material, take it fow what it is

Not anybody on this board that has volunteered their location in their profile...on the member map. I tried searching on "diamond" and found nothing. "bar" gets you our favorite poster from Santa Barbara....twice, but we give him special dispensation ;)

Wasn't Diamond Bar, CA where an FJR gathering was last year?

Doing the ol' Google I find a name Armand in an FJOwners reference...

...for some reason I thought I remember seeing something on this. Perhaps it was on the Micapeak FJR Listserv.....

Armand (bigdolma) is down there, but he's a true, stand-up kinda guy and wouldn't ******** like that. Plus, I would have known if he got whacked.

And yes, we had a mini tech day at Armand's to change shocks and springs. This event proved 50% successful as we got the shocks changed, but as skyway remarkably remembers, bonehead over here, forgot to loosen the pinch bolts about the fork cap which resulted in a FUBAR'd cap... oops.

Yep - Armand wouldn't do that.

Besides - he's at work today. So I know for a fact that he didn't do the hood ornament dance.

You Cal guys are funny.

Skooter-no, the other funny........... :D

Got a call from Motorcyclist to renew my now lapsed subscription. My response: "Not interested." Definitely a mag in decline.

Motorcycle News or MCN as some people refer to it here. Testing like Consumer Reports, riding advice from people I trust (not a speed mouth 22 year old), accessories advice & real world opinions of same, and just enough wry humor to keep from being pontifical. Plus the regular Fred Rau story/article.

I read all the MC mags at Borders after I've bought a cup or two of coffee. They are good to pass the time with, but usually there is nothing of any consequence in any of them. The crap bikes get a 'good' rating, accessories are promoted without any testing or long term use advice, and rarely is there an article I would want to read twice, much less save.

My only subscription is to MCN, and I save my past issues for reference purposes.

I'm on the fence about renewing MCN. It reads so fookin' dry. No wit, 'color' or humor 'cept for the little toon on the back page. I appreciate the tech content but man, yawn, yawn, yawn... Even Fred has gone sour since moving to CT.

I've been flippin' through some of the Brit mags at the newsstand, but there are too many primo machines that they review that we can't get here which further pisses me off.

Eh, WTF... I'm of the age to start a subscription to Readers Digest, I suppose...

RacerX for the dirt and CycleWorld for street. CW seems to meet my intrest level.. Cameron for the technical - have to read it twice - the old Brit bikes, even Amuricann Iron articles. Oh yeah, they also rated the FJR top sport tourer.. :D

Google: Road Runner Magazine. Take a looksee, its a great magazine!! bimonthly absolute great touring articles and bike comparison tests and on and on. Really guys its a terrific read, well worth the $ or go to: RRmotorcycling.com--u wont be disappointed! ;)

Ok , if it wasn't someone here it was over at the fjrowners site. I distinctly remember reading about the incident. When I saw that in Motorcyclist I thought deja vu.

Glenn

Right now I get cycle world and motorcyclist. Used to get Rider as well but let it lapse.

I thought it seemed familiar as well, so I did a search here.

This Clicky was very similar, but no mention of 90mph or standing on the side of the road.

MCN here. I'm passing them on to newbie riders when I'm done with them. More useful information in a single issue than a year's worth of Motorcyclist Mag.
