Rich -- this is actually good news. You get a free top overhaul and avoid the expensive valve inspection. ZAc has had lots of practice performing this repair [including mine] so you have an experienced "doctor" doing the surgery. Just pay closer attention to your oil usage on the CFR trip. Have a great time!

EXACTLY how I'm looking at it, Rick. If it were another dealer, I might have some trepidation, but not with Roseville Yamaha, Zac and his crew. Just got it back today from the TPS and top case mount recall/warranty work, plus a bit of lubing and inspection on the things I didn't get to in my pre-CFR maintenance marathon (we're leaving Saturday morning and I'm stressed as hell right now with too much to do).

When I get back, I'll take it in to them AND take my silver top case and scratched up saddle bags to Zack at Cook's body shop next door. I've long intended to get the saddle bags repainted, and the silver top case needs galaxy blue on everything but the middle section. It's gonna be good as new when I get it back. Meanwhile, I guess I'll just have to ride the Blackbird. :)
