Thanks for the concerns and well wishes everyone, I really appreciate it.
Just got back from the doc, appears to be soft tissue damage as I figured, but he wants me back in the morning for an X-ray of the foot/ankle just to be sure. Soreness is settleing in, but I'm fighting it with ice packs and movement. However, I imagine tomorrow is going to be a whole new world of hurt.

After the boo-hoo fest when I called her, I was amazed to hear her tell me to make sure I get the bike fixed because she's not riding by herself. Gotta love that woman.

FWIW, my wife is a bodily injury claims adjuster. His insurance company WILL owe you for injury compensation and you're entitled to it. BUT you need to ensure that you're totally 100% before you even begin to consider any offer they may make and you want to be sure that everything is checked out by your doctor. A lot of this stuff shows up later after the adrenaline/shock/initial pain wear off. Let your doctor do whatever he thinks is best to ensure you're 100%. Indeed, make sure you can get back to 100%. Remember when you start to question anyone with a medical degree, say, "Oh no I'm fine, really" or whatever: "Where did I get my medical training?" Let the experts do their jobs.

Note that I'm not saying you should screw the company, milk it for more than is fair, etc., but I am saying you deserve to be compensated for what you were put through by their insured.

I had a Vega. Replaced it after fall-off number one. I really liked that helmet. It was a lot more comfortable and quiet than the more-expensive ones that I have purchased since. You can pick those things up for about $79.

You gotta keep a woman like that! Sounds like she and my wife were cut from the same cloth!

Yeah, that pain medication is going to be appreciated after about 24 hours from the wreck. I hate that moment right before you wreck, you know what's coming, and all you can think is "SHITTTTTTTTTT!!!!"

Really glad your o.k. It could have been a hell of a lot worse!

Your bike doesn't sound too bad from the description, but be sure to take off all the plastic and check for hidden damage, cracked subframes, broken tabs....

Order the parts from U-motors, and do the work yourself. Doing that will save you hundreds of dollars and get you some new farkles. Make at least something good come out of it!

If you need any help with parts or assembly, all you need is a camera and the forum will back you up.

Calimus, 1st off I'm also glad you are "mostly alright" & remember that those are your words. These Hotlanta roads & xways are full of surprises. Let me make 2 suggestions for the "next time". How many videos have you seen lately of someone running a red light & taking out a bike? Sooo before taking off when the light turns green you just might want to check that the red light traffic is really stopped. I've had folks blow their horns at me cause I wait at a green light just to make sure they are stopping. 2nd, if you ever go down again, don't refuse the EMT ride to the hospital. You really need to be checked out for hidden damage and it will make your insurance claim a whole lot easier. Believe me on that. I'm not talking about taking the insurance company to the cleaners, it's just better all the way around. What's the worst that can happen? You'll have to take a cab or get your partner to come & get you & you'll have to go get your bike from the wrecker yard...Later,,, De

Really glad to hear that you had minimal personal damage! Hope your FJR can be returned to the previous condition at the other guy's insurance company's expense, quickly, and without hassle.

Well Calimus, they're dropping us southern boys like flies... I hit a deer Monday A.M. I sustained soft tissue damage in my thigh and bruised my knee pretty good. My pain experience was, Monday - pretty sore but able to walk, Tuesday - worse, couldn't hardly walk, Wednesday - better, not as bad as Monday, today - not much of a limp left. So, give it a week or so, you'll be right as rain. Hope to meet up for a ride after my bike gets fixed. If your going to do it yourself, Keithaba has BTDT and can give good advise. I'm using his parts figures to make sure the estimate is reasonable (thanks Keithaba).

Thanks again everyone. Hard to keep up with who said what, but I just want you all to know I appreciate everything said.

Today's pain level is almost at "What the F". I knew it was coming, knew it woul hurt, but this is a new experience for me, so it came at a level I wasn't even ready for. After a nice hot shower, I'm mobile again. Things are looseneing up a bit, but wow, feels like I was in a fight with a bear for a few hours and I know tomorrow is prollie going to be a bit worse. Thinking about just sleeping in the tub tonight so I don't have to try and get up and walk over to it in the morning.

Ok, I'm gonna gleam over a few things that were sais that stuck in my mind.

As for my personal damages - doc was amazed I wasn't in worse shape, I have x-rays to take of the foot (which is the one thing that actuall feels better today) as soon as I finish this post. Plus I'll have a follow up with the doc next Wed. Not taking this lightly at all.

The Bike will be repiared by a 5 star yamaha center. These guys are very picky and won't be happy till I am.

Jwilly - you didn't jinx me man, was just my turn, it happens.

As for having a chance to see the guy that ran the light, Not sure if I ever would have seen him. Thats a dual lane road and the car in the nearest lane to me had stopped, which prety well blocks the view of the other lane. Even still, I might just wait a tad longer from here on out. Cop that saw the whole thing commented to me that he didn't see the minivan untill he was already in the middle of the intersection and just about to impact me. Good thing is, the cop saw it, so even if the older guy tried to get outta it, I think he's locked in with the cops statement.

Scab - I also liked my vega, it did a good job. As for our wives, you might be right. Maybe once my bike is fixed, we'll see about meeting up and letting them meet.

I know I missed some more, but i'll try and come back later after the x-rays and catch up. I should have some pics of my gear and possibly the bike if I can get over there as well.

Ok, sorry for the delay on pics. X-rays were done today, doesn't look like anything is broken, which is a good thing. I did take pics, but family stopping by and then my meds kinda kicked my ass, so I've been outta it.

Not really too bad all considered. I'm hoping that the insurance company will feel that it can be repaired rather then totaled. I can't see why the wouldn't, but my luck isn't the best. However, I'm certainly not going down without a fight.

I was wearing pants, I never ride in shorts. However, shorts are prefered gear right now cause they don't rub the rash. Oddly enough, my pants came out of the accident almost without a mark. Still trying to figure out how I got the rash without the pants showing damage in those area's.

As for your gear - sure beats having the paramedics cut it all off of you! I lost a real nice armored tourmaster jacket ta a pair of scissors.

My real mistake was in trusting USAA to do the only inspection insead of having my shop do theirs. USAA shorted me by over $2700 when they totaled my FZ1. Ja, if they hadn't - I wouldn't have gotten my highly coveted FEEJR!

Good news man....But some advice...Always take the Ambulance ride even if you feel ok let them take you in (as you are a priority Patient) and even if it's you just sitting there answering a lot of sometimes silly questions or just relaxing for a few hours do it, you just never know....If things turn to shit really quickly you are in the best possible place mate.
