Arriving in Paso Robles, I find new recruits drinking the motorbike cool-aid. Several were dressed in combat fatigues, I wonder if they are currently serving?

Thursday, I paid tribute to SFC Richard Lopez at Patriot Guard Rider mission. I had to stop by one more time, to see, experience the guttural finality of death.

After respectfully thanking SFC Lopez, I headed west from Paso Robles for some back roads to find this true American -

Further up the road, another cemeterary. Funny, I've ridden this road over 20 years, and never noticed, maybe the getting older n' wiser and heightened sensitivity to immortality (Andrew, Tim, and 2 other close friends) makes me now notice. Whatever, when it's done it's done and **** the world.

Too much thinking. Just ride dcarver, just ride.

Hey DCarver:

1. Great chow to be had at the Sea Shanty - good choice (although I still lament the passing of The Pier Cafe).

2. Nice pic of Whale Rock Res with the Pacific in the background.

3. Lots of Cougars running loose in Cambria at times, foxes can be spotted there as well.

4. Not a good thing to use the "F" word in front of the Mennonite Cemetery - Good Christian folk' buried there. You are a comin' to church with me next week. Morning worship is at 10:00am sharp.

Sometime we will have to ride together, but no dirt roads for Francisco! That is saved for the IT 490.

Enjoy our great Cally weather (I bagged 239 miles to Mariposa in the Gold Country today).

The "haircut" story reminds me of one [evidently true] that a buddy tells about a long gone uncle who was married to a woman who [acknowledged as such by other family members] was an insufferable nag. Seems one day her long suffering husband said he was going into town to "get a haircut", it seems [Right Gent that he was], he stopped by the bank & lawyers on his way and put the entirety of his wherewithall in her name. That done, we assume he got the haircut, but it's not confirmed in the dialogue, what is known is that she did not see or hear from him for ~ the next 17yrs! He did eventually return, and they lived out their lives together, henceforth everytime she took on a surly tone of voice he'd quietly get up and go get a haircut, ...just a little reminder! The husbands in the family [including my friend] all still occasionally alude to needing a "haircut" w/in earshot of their spouses.

At 9:00 this morning I looked out the window to be sure that we will indeed be receiving the full 10-12 inches of snow yet again today. With the exception of the ice storm in December our winter is still better than many that live north of the Mason/Dixon line.
