Jeeze, guys......
Okay, everyone just ease back on the throttle, and lemme see if FJRGoodies will buy one 57431-06G00 bolt and one 57431-06G10 bolt, and I'll try them out on my 2003, and Ignacio's 2005 ABS, and we'll figger this crap out!
WC, if you can muster the energy to ride your 2003 all the way to my garage in South Kennewick we can take the subject bolts out of my 2004 DL1000 but I suspect that we are going to find that the FJR's 2003 and 2005 brake levers are different.

Jeeeeeeeeeeeez Skippy

You frightened the s**t out of me - I thought I had a virus - couldn't understand why I couldn't close it down

Eventually realised it was your signature - not a pleasant surprise at 7am!

<_<

Hand guards?  What, hands too cold to hold the veggie quiche?  Jesus ladies, don't forget to plug in your warmie vests!  :haha:   ;)
... he says from the frigid air of Santa Barbara, California.

Sorry TWN, I'm a wimp and I freely admit it. I do have a heated vest and I'm not afraid to use it.

I put the hand guards on shortly after this ride home:

I just hope someone has a good will on this guy.

Sooo.... what ever happened with the screws for the brake lever?
I stopped by one of the local stealerships today, and they had a full kit for the Suzuki V-Strom handguards. The bolts are supposed to be different (as we've discovered here).

Unfortunately, since these were in a kit, they were bagged, and there was no part number easily available to the genius behind the counter (not sure why he was unable to look it up for me - possibly because all he was able to order was full kits).

Jeff

I'm not sure if anyone else here mentioned this, as I did not read every post within the thread, but my handguards (Vstrom) hit my Cee Bailey's windshield when I turn. Easy fix, just disconnect the auto-retract windshield feature (quirk). I never ride with the windshield entirely down anyways.

Hey!

For you winter dudes with the Vstrom hanguards installed, do you leave them on all year round or take them off in the summer? :)

I leave 'em on until it gets real hot (the BMW guards). Keeps rain off your hands too.

I'm planning on taking mine off (a VERY simple procedure that will take all of 2 minutes) in a few weeks to a month, when the temps. in Houston get to 80ish on a regular basis...

I leave mine on year round. It gets above a hundred where I'm at in the Summer (who knew a third of Washington State is desert) and when I switch to lighter mesh top gloves and other gear--it's nice having those little hand windshields in case kamikaze yellowjackets want to fly 80 mph backwards into my fingers.

cool. thx guys.

Have a set I've been tardy in installing, but I should get around to it this week.
