Well another one is about here. Planning on doing some serious grazing tomorrow with the in laws. I am always so thankful I have the most wonderful wife and family a guy could ask for.

My son started working for us this year and we still get along plus that has allowed me to get away for more rides. After my deer strike last year I am feeling extra thankful for given another chance to ride. This year I have logged somewhere in the hood of 25K which is my best year of riding yet.

Some of my highlights included Fairlaners tech day last December with the SoCal group,Gathering of the Clans in Santa Barbara, a fun RTE ride up Bucks Lake Rd.with Tyler and other NorCal peeps during the summer. The Ruben RTE (thanks again Ray) where we got to meet Bust's and Odot's way better half's. Discover Kern County 8 hour rally last month was a kick and a day at the track with Russperry was a blast.

I'm hoping to ride to NAFO and EOM a week later to put some faces to those eastern names. It would be great to see many of you join us in Sparks next summer.https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/153784-western-fjriders-roundup/

To all the cool folks we have here I am wishing you a great day no matter how you slice it.

May the next year of riding bring lots of bugs on the front and big tire bills.

Doug

Happy Thanksgiving to you Doug, and to all the other forum crazies as well. Although I didn't have as many miles as you this past year, it was still great with:

  1. The SE Ohio Ramble in May with Wayne ragging on me about bringing a set of road worthy tires
  2. The Southwest trip with wifey enjoying the sights with me
  3. Hooterville down in MO/AR with 0Face and the gang showing me how far you can lean on those cheesegrater rough roads.
Now, as it was 10 degrees out this am, the FJR is done for the year.

But here's to many miles next year and adventures of all sorts...

Laura and I were able to get away for the Memorial Day weekend and take a quick overnight run up to the Bruce Penninsula and then had a great time with all the folks at CFR in Huntsville in June (so long ago!). We didn't get to ride as much as we wanted (blew the whole month of July on a guest bedroom remodel), but all in all it has been a good year. I try to remember how blessed/lucky we are whenever I get pissed about not having time for this or money for that. We will be giving thanks with her family tomorrow, but we also wish a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving to our extended FJR family!!

I agree with everyone, it has been a great motorcycle year for me. Just a peek through the Ride Reports section of this forum shows that many of us had some epic rides through some fantastic places so it must have been a good year for lots of us. Of course there is never enough time on the bike, or in the boat for that matter.

I too will be spending tomorrow with the wife's family but my Mom and Pop will be there as well. Mrs. Redfish and her Dad love my family and we "invade" each other's holiday plans fairly often. It is hard to ask for a better situation.

Of course I will be out in the sub-freezing cold frying The Turkey tomorrow. Mrs. Redfish insisted I do this at home in our Oil-less Turkey Fryer so that she could 1) Step out and see/smell the cooking process. 2) Look out the window and watch me shiver.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my forum Friends. I hope to meet at least some of you in the upcoming year.

Yes, like most of you, I have a lot to be thankful for this year as in the past. Messing around on our motorcycles is such a small part of life, but certainly important for keeping us happy, sane and entertained.

Thanksgiving is such an important family holiday, with no commercialism or pretense. I hope that you all enjoy yours just as much as we plan to enjoy ours.

May you and yours have a safe and happy holiday.

Just put the brisket into the warmer box to let it rest so it will be ready for lunch munchin'

I should go for a ride too. It's a little cool, but sunny and beautiful outside. Just a other thing to be thankful for. BUT, when we're done at my in law's we're heading to my moms's. 7" of snow on the ground and icy/muddy roads. Home made pecan and pumpkin pie. I LOVE my mom's pies!!

Like others I like this holiday. Not even because of the food. I like it because it's not as commercial as Christmas and Easter. I do however despise the idiots that will go Christmas shopping later this afternoon because they are greedy. They don't realize the employees in those stores have families too.

So, we're thankful for the things we have. It's good to have family, jobs, and the ability to feed our kids.

I hope all of you have a great Thanksgiving also!!

Hope ya'll have a great day

Deb n me, we're thankful for many things also. Not least all you guys who we count as extended family. My day didn't start too well

, another story --- I'm a lot lighter in my wallet though :-(

...Not least all you guys who we count as extended family...
Somehow that is true for this group. I've met only a small fraction...but those I've met, you'd have thought we went to grade school together and had known each other all our lives. Giving a helping hand when it was needed, even when it was unsolicited.

Thanksgiving. Thanks to those whom I've met, who encouraged me, and those I haven't met but brightened my day with humor or a kickass RR. Thanks.

Well, T-day is done for yet another year. And what I've learned right here on this forum helped make it a special day for us.

You may remember I had plans that involved cooking two turkeys this year, one in my new UDS and a traditional one in the indoor oven. We had such a small crowd coming this year I came to my senses and we just cooked indoors. It was pretty friggen cold here yesterday (barely made it to freezing) and the outdoor smoking would have sucked anyway. I'll test my whole turkey smoking prowess some other time when I don't have to freeze my *** off to do it. ;)

Still, the turkey that we cooked inside we used the overnight brining technique that some folks here schooled me on (Thanks!). That and using an electronic meat thermometer allowed us to turn out the absolutely most delicious Thanksgiving turkey that has ever graced our table. Of course, TMJ filled the table with all her accompaniments: Sweet potatoes, Squash, Grilled Asparagus, both regular and Spicy Sausage stuffing (my fav), Pearl Pnions in Cream Sauce, Cranberry sauce and jelly, and boat loads of turkey gravy over everything.

We tried our best to do justice to the feast, but only managed to hurt ourselves while barely making a dent in the pile. I only carved one side of the 18 pound Tom, but that is a blessing in itself as we love T-day leftovers. Even after cleaning up the dishes, I could only manage to pack down a single slice of Pecan pie for dessert without throwing up. The pumpkin and apple pies will have to wait for another time.

The best part was having a low key, totally relaxing and completely enjoyable day with all 4 generations of our family. Hoping you and yours were able to have a fine day too.
