Hi, saw the Street Tamer Throttle tube for the 2005 FJR1300 and was wondering if anyone had installed one and if it helps with the jerky throttle response on the bike. Any thoughts?

Throttle tubes are not the end all of fix all for jerky throttles. Unless you know for a fact it's the tube. Jerky throttles can be one or a combination of many things.

1) Throttle Position Sensor issue.

2) Poorly adjusted throttle cable.

3) Throttle body sync needs adjustment.

4) Dirty spark plugs.

5) Dirty air filter.

6) Poor grounding.

7) Battery terminal(s) loose.

8) Etc.

What are you trying to achieve? What are the issues? From a stop, rolling it on? At what RPMS, etc?

Help us help you.

I'd start with checking your TPS via the diagnostics, that's quick and easy.

Then do #'s 4, 5, then do a TBS #3. When's the last time you changed those and had a TBS?

I'd say at that point you should have no issues, or at least greatly improved.

I started thinking about his a little more and the meaning of the word, "jerky" throttle response.

If you mean by jerky, that the throttle is sticky and snaps form one position to another that could be a T-tube issue. Maybe it just needs lube (cables too) or the tube is damaged. Throttle body issue? I doubt it, but...

If you mean "jerky" as in the throttle response hesitates, then what I prescribed above may help.

Good luck, let us know how it goes. ;)

Hi,

Today I installed the G2 ergonomics throttle tamer on my 2005 FJR1300. I was being really careful to not destroy the stock grips so I sprayed some Windex inside the grip and it slid right off. After reinstalling everything and making sure the throttle cables were not binding, took the bike out for a short test ride.

The throttle was a lot smoother, but still alittle "jerky" at slower speeds. I might have my mechanic check the throttle cable and see if it needs adjusting.

Install took just about 20 minutes and I am pleased with the results. :D

Hi, Ionbeam

I looked at some of the prices for the PV-C or the PC111 and they run about $369.00 dollars. I'll have my mechanic adjust the throttle cable (shorten it) and hope that will help the "jerky" feeling for right now.

Thanks, for all the help.
