Amplification

I've got the $30 variety. Not bad & the AAs last quite a while.

However, I'm still very satisifed with my StarCom setup - 2 years and no need for additional amplification.

Sounds like Yamaha still havn't got the windshield right with the 06. I have a Rifle Touring windshield on my 04 and love it. No buffeting and when 7/8 up completey still air. I don't carry rain gear any more. I am 6ft 2". My wife is 5ft 5" and has the same shield on her 05 and reports the same results. She just uses hers lower than I use mine. Downsides? It is a BIG shield: changes the appearance of the bike.

Uralrob

Don't take life too serious, its not permanent.

Compared to the '03 FJR I had the ride and handling both seem noticeably better. Have not felt any heat yet, while my '03 was warm in the 70s which it has hit since I've had my '06. I need both bar risers and a good (Corbin?) saddle asap, just like my '03. Overall I'm very glad I bought the bike!

Speed? Well, she's fast enough for me! Not my ZX12R (long gone), but plenty quick enough. DFO :D

I have an 03.
Our local dealer has a Yamaha Demo ride on May 6th.

I hope to be there and take an 06 FJR out, just for entertainment's sake.

(Assuming they have an FJR available at that particular event)

Update;

They did have an 06 at the demo. :D

It was barely 50 degrees on Saturday, (it was damp and felt colder) and I was "jet lagged" from a late return flight from out west; not the best conditions but I wasn't going to miss the ride.

The ambient temperature was too cool to fully assess the heat issue.

It was about a 20 minute group ride, so this made a full assessment difficult.

Aside from the obvious instrument and fairing changes, it felt like riding my 03, which IMHO, is a good thing since I like the 03, a lot.

Odd thing is that they brought one FJR, and about 6 sport bikes and 15 to 20 cruisers. A year or more ago, I would have examined most of the cruisers, this year, I walked by all of them to look the FJR over; it seems FJR's are addictive to some of us.
