Can't "figger out" the particulars(?) from the post, but... I would say that "It"...is always better to keep the Shiney side Up, and the Rubber side Down"

Had to suck though!

 
It really looks like the unplanned "Hard" application of front brake didn't damage the bike's top case that bad so it must not have been that extreme.. Still... hope his neck is ok.
