High on my list is to rent a bike and ride from San Fran to Seattle and back, didn't work out for me when I planned the trip a couple years ago....

Got a new keeper pillon and would love to take in all the journey over a 10 day, I think that would be awesome... As much as I love my FJR it'd be pretty cool to rent a K1600 for that journey.....

Since you'll be on the waterfront, the Ballard Locks tour by Argosy Cruise Lines is a great way to see Seattle from the water. They leave from Pier 55/56, swing by the Duwamish Industrial Pier where all the shipping containers get unloaded, then up through the Ballard Locks into Lake Union. From south Lake Union they bus you back to Pier 55/56. Takes about 3-4 hours.

I would second the museum of flight, and the Le May museum. If you don't have a car, you can take the train to Tacoma and the museum is walking distance.

Also, a cheap and fun and picturesque trip for not a lot of money is to hop on the Bainbridge Ferry and go there and back. Great views of Seattle, and Bainbridge has some good lunch spots.

If you have a car, you need to visit Mt. Rainer. About 2 hours max from Seattle, or you can do a really nice loop in about 6 hours. Visit Paradise Lodge to get the full impact of Rainer, plus Chinook Pass.

If you can, give Mountains to Sound Tours a call, they rent FJRs and other bikes and not too expensive. You can do an awesome 1 day all day ride, and see three amazing mountain passes. Holler and one of us will send a route.

Yesterday was a long day travelling, but i was here by noon. I spent the afternoon doing a walking tour. Checked out Pike Market. Couldn't believe how crowded it was! I had some great oysters sitting right next to the giant wheel on the pier. I do have a car, so Thursday afternoon I will head to Rainer. We are doing an Elliot Bay cruise tomorrow, so I will try to hit the museum of flight. Although I am not in aviation, my father was a pilot, so it is in my blood. Thanks again for all the suggestions!

P.S. Unbelievable how much a 3 hour time change messes with you !

Yes it does. I found the best remedy is to seek out a nice outdoor cafe somewhere then sit and enjoy with your favorite libation until you catch up with the change.

Well you are in luck for your Thursday visit to The Mountain! (Rainier) The forecast is for clear skies. I road around the Mountain on Sunday via White and Chinook Passes and got hammered by two thundershowers, saw 3 lighting bolts, while listening to Elton John's Yellow Brick Road, so I did not hear the thunder.

I suggest you go to Sunrise and take short hike. The road from Longmire to Paradise on the SE side of the mountain is under construction and it is a longer drive from Seattle. There is not much in the way of food after Enumclaw so you might bring some water and a sandwich.

Thanks for the heads up. I forgot to add that I was on the correct side of the plane to get spectacular views of Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainer on the flight in.

So you were able to check those two sites off, before you even landed...

You would have to live in the greater Seattle area to see it all but this is not the case. Ballard locks is a good day trip. If you go, one end of the locks has a underground viewing area of the salmon ladders. Pretty cool. The best sea food dinner is at Arnie's at the Mukilteo ferry area. After dinner have a fun filled evening at the Diamond Knot Bar. Great beer and atmosphere.
