Heading to Key West Tomorrow

Since I've got the FJR I've put about 650 miles on her and feel fairly comfortable. Did a test run today with all my bags on her down the interstate. Wish me luck and good riding.

Sounds like a great trip - I wish I could join you. I've never been to the keys before.

I shouldn't complain, but I just finished riding 50 miles through rain/T-storms, and thanks to my mesh jacket and gloves am cold and wet! I mean, rain in Arizona? WTF? I bet you will be enjoying some nicer weather. Take some pics for us.

Have a nice ride Frayne,but beware as you travel through all those small hamlets down there,cause theres five cops in each one looking to increase revenue.you don't want to be excessively speeding down US-1 to Key West.

It's a nice ride if you're not in a hurry.

Take the Card Sound toll road ($1) from Homestead to Key Largo to avoid a lot of nasty construction approaching Key Largo, pick it up just a few miles south of where the Florida Turnpike dumps you out onto US-1. It is also a much prettier route. Alabama Jack's is a local favorite for lunch if you are in the area at lunchtime, it's just before the toll booth on the Card Sound Road. PM me if you want company from Miami to Key Largo...be happy to ride with you if timing works out.

Another wish for a great ride. Haven't been to the keys, but I hear great things. If you have time to ride along the coast, there's some seriously cool places along the north coast.

Always wanted to take a ride to KeyWest, but coming from Northern CA it takes a bit of time off work to accomplish the trip.

I just got back from Bikeweek, then a week in the Keys. Left Utah with 800-ish on the FJR. More on the ODO now

I rode my FJR down to the Keys a couple weeks ago. MY first time and what a reality check. Lot's of stop n go driving,clutching and breaking. Not a whole lot to look at on the way down. I didn't have a hotel room in reserve coz I figured there would be rooms available. Yea for $300.00 and on up per night! So I had to turn around and head back. Finally found a room at the 82 MM (mile Marker) for $165.00 . Umm next time I go to the Keys, I'm going in a jet and taking a cab to the RESERVED hotel room.

It might be to late for this but I made that run on my '04 FJR and found this interesting. After running at the end of the turnpike the lady accepting my money for the toll told me that I was speeding because of the time stamped on my ticket. It wasn't inforced then but she told me that it soon would be. That was Oct.'05. From Columbia S.C. to Miami in 8 hours and 46 minutes. Went down on a Friday mourning, had a drink in Sloppy Joes in Key West that night, scuba diving Saturday mourning in Key Largo and sleeping in my own bed in Coulmbia that evening.

Rode there once on my harley from dallas.....there are some interesting folks there with some gender issues.....just check out keywest.com....lol
