Why does the service manual say in bold capital letter "DO NOT REMOVE THE HEADLIGHT ADJUSTER CABLE"? Any idea as to why?

Flash

I just remove the knob assembly and pull the panel off it. Re attaching the cable would likely be a lot more work.

Agreed! It's a pain in the *** to put that fuker back on...

Don't ask how I know as it's pretty obvious :dribble:

No idea... I just unscrew it and pull the panel off. It's easy to get back on. I haven't ever figured out how to get it disconnected any other way.

I suspect they are warning you to not disconnect the cable at the lamp end? That's the only thing I can think of because I've removed the cable many times on the adjuster end in order to remove that panel from the bike. There's just the knurled knob to loosen on the cable and then you pull the whole panel out. I've never had the knobs off my adjusters.
