Along side the ECU S1

2 near the fuel rail connection LHS S2 S3

1 at the front under the tank, LHS near the radiator hose, the dreaded S4

1 at the front under the tank, RHS near the water temp sensor S5

1 under the LHS nose cone of the bike, below the glove box S6

1 behind the LHS headlight panel S7

1 behind the RHS headlight panel S8

The S3 and S5 have only low current sinking.
Tip 'o the hat to Queensland Ken.

My spider failure was the S7 and in my case it sounded like the windshield was trying to run in both directions at once (the hum noted by the OP). Despite the 2010 not being affected by the recall, it sure sounds like it still a loose ground issue that is causing circuits to back feed other circuits in pursuit of ground.

I promise that I will improve that drawing, give me a few days. Mind you it was a collective effort from a few Forum members,

ionbeam, can you remember the thread where there was a high resistance / burnt connector on a neutral bridging wire on one of the connectors under the tank ? It produced similar symptoms.

The neutral wire wasn't in the "normal" neutral spider circuit, but in one of 2 connector blocks under the front of the tank.
