I have a 2005 FJR, and as we all know its great on a 40-75 degree day, but after that I roast my rear off. I was going to sell, but i have heard a lot of good things about the retro fit kit. However I know nothing about it, and i am wondering where it can be purchased. I also am wondering if there are any other solutions anyone has tried that have worked well. For me the FJR is the total package. I have ridden nearly every comparible bike and nothing else measures up. I just want to cool it off some.

There is no formal "kit" I'm aware of. This is one of the MOST blathered about threads in the warm weather. It's covered in the Gen 1 FAQ.

Beyond that, I strongly suggest you try TWN's search along with heat issue site:fjrforum.com at Google.

Cromeit heat fix and insulation blanket under the gas tank will make a BIG change on the '05 FJR.

Done both to my '05 - rode an '05 without the fixes recently and the difference is day and night.

Or maybe I should say not hot and hot?

Look on E-bay for the under-tank insulation as someone sells it there.

Smitty used to sell a tank blanket, probably still does, that I put on my '03 last summer. Made all the difference in the world in tank heat cooking my legs! smitty141, the cruise-control/IBA-tire-changer/oil-change guy. Busy right now doing the San Diego to Jacksonville thingie.

PM me with your e-mail address and I will send you a PDF with directions for Comeit and under-tank insulation. I did all that stuff, and after having buyer's remorse because of my perception of the heat, when I ride now it never crosses my mind that the bike gets hot. Jb
