I have the same setup

but

I broke the glass on one light and have not been able to find where I can buy just one. does anyone know?

I think I need to get protectors as well

This was my Saturday afternoon project. Garauld's mnt. brkt. w/Hella FF-50's. Installed a toggle switch w/rubber boot next to the emergency flasher button. Tied into the high beam circuit (yellow wire) behind the right side headlight plug. All seems to work great! Thanks Gary!............

I am really liking mine. Gary does great work!

I used the stock Hella switch in the left fairing panel (for the AE heated grip control). Tapped the side marker hot lead so I could have the lights whenever I want.

I like these better than the HID options I have seen thus far.

jimbemotumbo,

You might at some point consider replacing the switch that came with the lights as I don't think it's waterproof. I might be wrong, but I think it was intended to be used inside a car. Glad you're enjoying yours!

It's waterproof now!

I used a thin layer of permatex around all joints and smoothed it out. Top and bottom.

I'm very impressed by garauld's light kit and plan to order a set for myself. It looked great

on the 2005 FJR! I saw the price of the Hella's alone around $80-$100! I'm not going to

install the PIAA's fender kit from CycleGagets at $320. I did a Iron-Butt 1K ride a few weeks

ago and everyone(except me) had extra lights on their bikes. Saw other 2003 FJR with Hella's

and the owner of it liked the lights a lot.

Gary, please tell me that you still have some of these lights avail. I will try to get the brackets from FJRgoodies (intend to upgrade to PHIDs when I can, but need some light before WFO).

Go with the Electosport higher output stator. An extra 100 watts just for those Hellas. Just installed mine and now I got the power.
Not needed with the 06. Plenty of stock juice for all the add-ons.

Are you sure? It seems to me the linked brakes and the AE will take up a considerable amount of power. I wouldn't be too sure you have all those watts. Plus in testing the stator rated for 490 actually was only about 400. So..... before you take for granted what you think I would like to see an actual output of the 06.

I also have the Hella FF50 lights and brackets from Gary. They work great. I put the switch in the left handle bar housing for the turn signals on my 04. I took out the cover plate for the flash to pass switch that we do not get and put in a small rocker switch. I had to do a little sanding to get it to fit. When I bought the switch I also bought a rubber cover for it and used silcon to seal it up. So far no problems and it is easy to access to turn off and on.

Here is a picture of the switch with out the cover.

Put the Hellas and G's brackets on ages ago. A suggestion-mount the lamps on top of the bracket, rather than below, as in sgoats install pictured above. Not only does it make for a cleaner look, but the additional height will add a bit to the range.

If you don't already have them, I recommend getting the lexan covers for your lights. I had FF50's with the covers on my 03' and felt they were worthwhile. They simply "clip" onto the lights themselves. They say you can leave them on and use the lights, but I found since our lights sit up so high that they tend to reflect back a bit. At dusk, I simply pop them of and toss them in my tankbag. Got mine at Classic garage.

FF50 Kits still availalbe? If so, what might they cost with the protectors?

Very Interested!

Bought a set of these recently, took the bike to a local shop who do bike electrics. they wouldnt touch them as they said it will invalidate my warranty if anyone other than a Yammy dealer fits these... I know a lot of people have fitted them here so presumably this isnt the case & the shop just couldnt be bothered taking the panels off? The Yammy dealer up the road from them wouldnt touch it either as they dont deal with the electrics.....!

I don't know why a third party would care if they invalidated your warranty? Sounds like they just don't want to do it. :(

I have available a complete kit that includes a pair of new Hella FF50 driving lights, mounting brackets, relay, switch, wire, and neoprene protectors as shown mounted in the photo. These lights are very bright and will shine up the road ahead quite nicely. Check this link to see a comparison for how bright they are:Hella Comparison

All you need to supply is the labor. I can furnish the brackets powdercoated satin black or painted to match your bike. Reasonably priced at $100 delivered to your mailbox. Send me a PM if interested. B)
