I'm finally singing up. This forum keeps helping me fix my bike. Thank you everyone.

I'm a moto teacher 2022-2023 for about 600 students over two years, every weekend. I bought my current '13 Yammy "Lucy" from another teacher who owned/named her.
She's fast, known for leaving other sport bikes behind, many people wonder how she goes so quick! I just tell em, It's an FJR. What do you expect?

I had an older FJR (my first), a 2008 for a couple years as it passed from 95,000 to 105,000 miles. I sold it for almost as much as I paid and puchased my current ride.

Lucy has 5 gears, she really likes second and third in the twisties. She has cruise control at 82mph max, and heated grips. I'm too heavy for her, but she carries me well and I keep her rear suspension on firm. (260 here).

Her favorite tires are Pirelly Angel GT II (ASpec), stock size, with EBC HH Sintered pads. Her saddle was upgraded by the previous owner, and I was always jealous, but now she's mine. She takes a quick shift well, but she likes it a LOT when you add just a pinch of clutch when shifting under high power. She's a bit of a twinkle toe, slipping out of second gear under load if I'm not firm with her, heading for ditches when I'm not looking, and getting 35MPG... none of this is a problem. She's a badass.

Thanks for having me.

Welcome...
The clutchless shifting won't help the 2nd gear thing although is only a real problem if you miss the shift - only takes a couple to do some damage. You may have some work in replacing gear dogs and/or shift forks in your future - a couple of people have documented the process on this forum. Here's a short video...

Lots of threads on the subject - search function works well on the forum.

Regarding the cruise control, if you find the 82 MPH limitation an issue, you can get the ECU "flashed" by Ivan.

I have tried the Pirelli Angel tires and admit that I am not a fan. Current favorite is Dunlop Roadsmart IV or Bridgestone T32GT.
As they say, YMMV.

Nice! Purty FJR! And welcome! And that 82mph cc limit is 80mph 'actual'. Besides Ivan's ECU reflash replacing the ECU with a '14, or '15 'A' model ECU will also raise that limit to 100mph. They are prohibitively expensive new, and hard to come by used.

I find the 5-spd FJRs to speed shift very easily. Whether Gen 1, 2, or 3. The 6-spd not as smooth.
