I had been looking to add helmet locks but was not satisfied with the current alternatives for mounting locations. My favorite to date had been to mount them under the plate used to mount aftermarket trunks, but that example did not work with the Yamaha trunk mounting plate, so this is what I offer as an alternative.

This is the left side (rider's helmet lock side) - First, I removed the forward bolt for the muffler mount bracket and re-installed after applying blue lock-tite (habit). Then removed the rearward bolt and replaced it (again using blue lock-tite) with a lower profile metric allen bolt to get the needed clearance for the lock assembly to sit over this area. Drilled the small hole (depth and diameter) to just fit the "pin" on the lock assembly, after calculating the correct position. On the underside of the lock assembly, I had to slightly grind down the portion of the lock cylinder that protrudes beyond the metal plate held on by two tiny screws to get proper clearance over the new low profile allen bolt already installed. At this point, the lock assembly was positioned in position and the larger through bolt hole was drilled and slightly countersunk:

Passenger side, helmet doesn't sit quite as nicely, but works fine:

Sorry about the small images - I'm just figuring out how to post pictures for the first time.

Great job. I like it...mind if I copy? :assassin:
Uhm....I believe that's why he posted it. Sharing an idea with the collective is par of the FJR Forum experience! :clapping:

A couple of comments....

Do the helmets then rub against the side panel? That is a potential for ugly scratched paint.

It appears the helmet rests against the rear foot peg or it will rub against the sidecase. More possible paint damage.

One could use a helmet cover...... :unknw:

The rubber molding around the bottom edge of the helmet does rest against the painted silver side panel, as well as resting on the rubber portion of the passenger footpeg. Using minimal care, I do not anticipate any paint issues when the helmet is in place and the bike is stationary - You could be assured of some sort of damage to bike or helmet if one was to ride with a helmet in place as shown.

You may want to "dry fit" your helmet in this approximate position before attempting to install the lock assembly. I do agree that the passenger side lock assembly (right side of the bike) is a compromise as to how the helmet hangs in comparison to the left side (tough to get your cake and eat it too!). Overall for me, I prefer this solution to the hang them off the license plate, the subframe mounted brackets, etc. The best part is the simplicity and no cost (other than the lock mechanisms).
