I'm looking for a new helmet the ones I've had so far on the FJR have been quite noisy, has anyone found a reasonably quiet one.

Is there such a thing as a quiet helmet? There are so many factors I think there may not be such a thing as a 'quiet helmet'. Do you use ear plugs? That is critical in my opinion. I can only do a modular, or flip, helmet. Pretty sure they are noisier than a traditional helmet. Again, foam ear protection or earbud speakers are critical.

Imho, the air entering the helmet on the underside around your chin and neck is where most of the noise comes from. Not necessarily easy to fix that.....

Shoei helmets are my all around favorite for comfort and noise reduction. As a former 30 year motor officer, I have tried so many helmets trying to find the Holy Grail. It really depends on the shape of your head. Whether its round, oblong, wide, tall, or something else. Many of the helmets today have foam and netting that block air from entering underneath which reduces noise. The problem with those is they are a bear to get on and off. Any helmet with air vents is going to be slightly louder as well for obvious reasons. Good luck on your mission.

Your best bet is to Google motorcycle helmet comparisons. You'll find articles by independent magazines or consumer reports with actual test data numbers.

I chose Shoei primarily due to the odd shape of my head . And use it with the chin skirt. Close all the vents and wear a Balaclava when it’s cold enough. I also have stereo headphone speakers installed in my helmet as part of my Sena Bluetooth system. (I have not found earbuds that stay in my ears when I put the helmet on.)
After all of that, nothing has reduced wind noise more than the taller Touring windscreen. Of course it may not be enough for the rider taller riders. One time I feel lucky to be only 5’11”.

So, you don't use any kind of hearing protection? If so, yikes!

As for earbuds: S Plug Earbuds

Not cheap, but I have been using them for over 15 years now and swear by them.

The Sena headphone speakers came with a couple sets of backing pads, of different thickness. I used the thickest pads and they press the (also) padded speakers snugly but comfortably against my ears. Actually works quite well. A lot like wearing studio headphones. The remaining wind noise is not enough to adversely affect a phone call, but is just enough to spoil some music (especially at 90 MPH+); that's when the windscreen gets powered up.

Thanks for the plug on S-plug. Similar to my SoundCore ear buds, without the bulk!

So do I. At least the during the rare times I am not using the S-Plug earbud 'speakers' to listen to music.....
