We took the Raven (08 FJR) out for our 1st 2 up ride today.

I've been playing with my new mini video cam and got an hours worth of pretty cool stuff. The quality of this snip is reduced to minimize upload/download times but the original plays back pretty good...

This must be the place. :p

Hey Brody - Nice ride! That road looks like fun. :D

Do you have helmet laws in PA?

Yep, properly weraing your gear will help you in an accident. I think it's time for a new hlemet now. Although he'll probably use this damaged one.... :dribble:

Very fun. Here is another little snip. I rode 30 miles straight of this stuff with zero I mean nobody at all in my lane the whole way. For around this area, this is about as good as it gets.

We had mandatory helmets since the 60's but they repealed it a few years ago. If you are over 18 and licensed it's optional as of now.

Those roads look positively delicious! What a great way to christen a new bike.

Duh! on the helmet. Do you think he was retrieving it, to prevent it being a danger to other road users? or more likely thinking that it would be OK to use again. I guess it would still have ornamental value. While riding in the desert, we saw a guy on a quad having a hard time making right turns, because the classy, expensive full face helmet hanging on the bars was getting in the way! (and that was in a mandatory helmet area). I guess he didn't quite get the bit about actually WEARING the helmet.

Brody, Nice looking roads in N. PA. I cruised on a few myself this morning and was pleasantly surprised to find traffic extremely light and no LEOs. PennDOT seems to have gone a bit overboard with the pourable sealant. Tar snakes blanketing the road made some secondary highways a little more interesting than I anticipated. I'm always surprised by bikers who hang their good helmets behind their seats. I think PA has the wrong idea on helmets. Just my opinion. ATGATT for me. Ride safe.

Doc, Elmira is close to some good stuff. Rt's 144,120,287,555, Wykoff Run Rd. are a few to try. Of course rt 6 is the major east-west rt for cruisers.

Scenic spots, The PA Grand Canyon (with a stop at the classic Wellsboro Diner for pie), Hyner Run ST Park (Hyner view Overlook).

The Blackwell Hotel for lunch is an interesting place on rt 414.

I was surprised to hear those responses from 2 CA riders. CA has got some twisties that go on and on seemingly forever at times.

When I have enough time, I go south. WV all the way to N. GA, now they know how to bank turns down there! And the pavement is smooooooooooooth. B)

Helmets... If you ain't gonna wear it why pack it?
Because by packing it onto the rear seat you're providing a visual reminder to everyone that you're too cool to wear it, Bro.

Yep,

144 was fun. :clapping:

I rode it south towards WV and EOM on my way from NY last fall.

Brody,

Thanks for the vids of PA. I have done a lot of riding up through the Wyoming valley area and in and around New Holland, PA area. You know - that would be a great place to have EOM 2009! What do ya think? But of course we need to get Geezer and S76 working on an EOM up there in the Catskills too, don't ya know now.

But the helmet - WTF? Was the dudes noggin to small for the lid or did he have it on back wards? (Rhetorical question seeing how we see him riding on the shoulder in the opposite direction of traffic. )

V.
